Hey everyone,

I am looking to buy a R32GTR but it has a R33GTR engine in it.

I am very interested to know if the 33GTR engine suffered the same oil problems that the 32 GTR had.

If there is a link to all this information please send it to me as i am very serious about purchasing this GTR.

Also any possible warnings or tips upon what to look for in purchasing a GTR would be awesome!

If you have any advice on purchasing a GTR please let me know.

Car was built in Japan and probly used for track, strret and maybe drag racing (exact specs cannot be known but these are all suspected if not priven to e modified to the car)

Specs are below and any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Well given it no longer has an R32 RB26 in it any criticism of the early RB's is rather irrelevant.

Secondly, with all those mods I would have expected to see something relating to the oil pump & maybe an oil restrictor in the head. Maybe they just missed listing it.

Lastly, it doesn't read like a drag car. But you just don't know. Just make sure the thing is reasonably fresh. All the mods in the world won't help if it is flogged out. Good luck getting it complied...

sounds like it was built in australia to me? G4 suspension... catco cat... dirt garage rwd switch etc. so given all these mods done in aus, i'm assuming the car is in aus, which begs the question, why not just ask the owner these kind of questions? i'm not so keen on a pop riveted chassis, and not quite sure how they get two front strut braces on there...

Having usd T618Z on a few customer cars i would be wary as to what you want to use this car for, with T618Z's expect a fair bit of lag as they are designed for heavily modded 26's and are Trusts largest bolt on twins nearly equiv to twin TD06S-20g.

Average output is 440-520 odd rear wheel KW and trust recommend pretty extreme specs with these turbo (nothing under 272 10.5mm) with baby tomei 260's the above setup seems to be a little mis matched, have you driven it or got any power figures?

Have not driven car yet.

Wanting to drive this weekend and quite possibly buy if he will let me.

Car has been for sale for about 1 year and no one has snapped it up. That is why i thought i woudl ask for any assistance if the GTR fields that some people might know more about than me.

He has stated the car has 570 ps at the flywheels but i do not know what that converts to in kw or much else.

Also has it tuned by JEM at 300awkw on 1 bar and 360awkw at 20psi.

Does this all sound right.

Car has been in aus for a while and some mods have been done to it here but the majority of engine work was done in Japan. Just a few thigns done to it in Aus for compliance (prestige motorsport) and just owners own preference after compliance.

Any help would be appreciated.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
