hang on.... hookers guns and cocaine

NOOOO dont spend it all on hookers, guns and cocaine!

Only spend about 5grand in this area.

Seriously though, to invest it you can still get units/flats etc for under $180,000. Might be worth a look.

I got my house sorted first before i bought a skyline.

5K on drugs and sex is not enough!! I say 10K at least. The rest you can blow it on a trip.

But seriously, consider the study route, or investment route. The people here are old enough and wise enough to tell you that. Few years down the road, take whatever money you've earned from the FD/TD and put it back into the car. That way, you've so called not spent a single cent :). Won't be much, but at least you still have the $20Gs.

Just invest it. Of course nothing stupid, blue chips and stuff.

leave it till you know what you want to do with it - you shouldnt need people to help you decide =]

butttttt..... if you want my opinion =] put it in a super saver account and watch your money grow.

ING direct saver account does 6%per anum http://www.ingdirect.com.au/personal/savings_max.htm

if you deposit 20gand and dont even add to the savings you will have 22grand in 20 months... (i used the website calculator)

had big think and talk with parents last night. cant believe iv changed my mind and finally opened my eyes lol, to be honost this has been a real help starting this thread :O, when i ask all my friends they say buy a car but dont really give any decent answers,

last night had a chat with the olds and they said to spend maybe a couple grand on the current car and lock everything else up in a savings account or something else that makes money instead of loosing it, that way im spending some but not a ridiculous amount of the money on something that makes me happy yet doing the smart logical thing and making the money back over time.

to be honost i dont think there will be another time in my life when im just going to just get $20 000, it is not little money and as many people have said they have spent it this kind of money on their cars before and even more and they are either still not happy with the way there car is or have regretted it and would have rather spent the money else where!!!

im already lucky enough to get a paid for decent skyline as it is so why be greedy??? lol \

now instead of searching for which CAR to buy with the 20 grand i think its safe to say that im going to be searching for what type of investment the money will be going in, MAKES SENSE :w00t:

i would sell the sII 33 and spend a bit on upgrading to an s15 and invest the rest

your nan wanted you to enjoy it so your enjoying some of it

and while the 34 is great , the s15 is a better package . the 34 is pretty similar to your 33 , not much point upgrading bit better overall but not enough to justify the changover price

Deposit on a house is good. Sounds easy but actually making 20% for a deposit is extremely hard.

Funnily enough my nana helped us get the last bit of the deposit.

Took 2 years to pay it back with 2 salaries coming in and when I thought it would only take a year.

Yes you can get no deposit loans but interest rates are a lot higher. You also have no way to negotiate a good interest rate.

Current interest rates for deposits barely cover inflation. At 6% in real value terms your probably going backwards.

I would buy a house ASAP. Someone once said to me a house loan is like forced savings. Didnt think much about it at the time but its very true.

Wouldnt touch shares with a barge pole at the moment. The world economy is being driven by China and that bubble is starting to show signs of weakness.

spend $5k on your car, and invest $15k, best of both worlds sammy :(

alternatively you can give me the $20,000, and ill 'invest' it.. i could do with a new turbo. :(

edit: i should really check if there is more than one page before i post...

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
