Hey all.

As I am awaiting my garnish from an ebay seller $29 delivered ( not bad )

I was deciding on what i wanted to light up I.E. just under brakes or parker/brakes or reverse and decided that i wanted it to light up

under brakes and reverse so im heading out 2moro to get all the parts and hopefully my garnish arrives and with any luck my plan will work

but if it doesnt than its back to the drawing board ( and you guys will get free " dont do this or your break something advice ").

ill take heaps of pics of the curcuit board and put up a little tutorial on how to achieve a brake reverse system.

this should look really good.

1 question though..

My car is already black do you think this will suffice in stopping the light coming through or should I do a few coats of colour to be sure??

Just my 2 cents worth...

Cheers

I got one off mlt15e which he provided after a few weeks but the panel it was on was rough under the paint in certain parts which i consider quite an eye sore, especially if any light reflects or glares off the parts. That was the end of 2007. Since then its been broken promise after broken promise but for the most part he is just non responsive and refuses to refund. $350 or whatever it was wasted!!!

mlt15e is you read this come on man you seemed like a nice guy, do the right thing, replace it or refund. Ive never even hooked it up to the car and its been over 6 months!!!!!!!

well i finally recieved my series 1 garnish after the other one f'd up with the paint. made the circuitry about 3 years ago and is still not in my car.

it may sound like a stupid question but what is the paint called that is on your car, and will this paint stick to an acrylic base paint. As i was going to get a spray painter to do this, this time, as the other one wasn't the right colour. But as it is plastic you need a plastic adheaser right? then i was going to mask up the letters and paint it black (acrlyic) and leave it masked up ready for proper white spray QM1. Didn't want to give the masking job to them as it may stuff up cuz you really need a sharp stanley and bit of patience to cut around the letters.

Will this work? an info would be great as i did plan to have this on my car about 3 years ago and has still not happened.

    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
