i so agree with alot your saying... but there is always two sides to something.... im not saying track is bad, im giving reasons for why ppl do not go... racing on a street, and im not talking about racing in trafic scaring other drivers... cops do not know your there.. but track days and what , cops are aware, its like driving into a storm... so its safer going to a area were cops know were you are????, or is it safer going to a area were know one knows were you are?.... there is alot of street racing going on that ppl dont know about, .. thats how it al started... but, look, im not saying track is bad.. best place to go and learn and have fun... but do we want fines , and its not about the money, you do know this can effect your licence and rep with cops.. they do take plate numbers down to watch for fun, then, pow, nice drive to get mcdonalds, then a cop knows you, pulls you over on a harmless food run and would like to look over your car as they know about you and have told you before to remove the mod... which is easier?..hahaa.... i dont wanna drive to work and get pulled over for the hell of it.. i know of ppl who have sold there cars because of this crap,, and i know some others out there know what im saying instead of a one sided conversation...... does this explain it beta.... take a little bit in of what ppl say and do what you want with it. thats how we learn right?..... "and if you dont want fines, dont mod your car?" so your saying not to have something we want?, and forget about it because of fines. you can have a moded car and not get caught and fined.. get a jasma stamped exhaust for one hey.... see you can do things and get away with it... get a black intercoooler?, that works well... funny how some stock cars come out faster then a stock skyline but we cannot mod our car to match the factory kw/?... i drive every were, and only fine ive got was to low.. the cops didnt even know what a dump pipe was... those cops are fine.. the cops that search for cars going to track/events, know a little bit more... i woulds rather test my luck with a random patrol cop :D

hey, im not starting crap.. just adding to this topic.

i love the dick terms.. haha.. funny , hard to have nice things without ppl bringing that into play..

i would rather look at my car and go,, nice, instead of, on no what could i have done with this car.... i will say, everyone has been to a track now and then... for sure...ans yes, cops have always knowen, but it is worse now. we all now that.. more cars, more cops wanting to stop ppl fron having there nice cars...

not a real modded car........ but it is daily driven.

your saying that by going to the track all the time to race my car, drift my car, ect i am drawing attention to myself? ffs every time i back outta my garage where im living right now half the f**king town hears about it.

as for real cars drive to the track darren appleton drove drf13 to the track every drift meet, 180go won the high tech shootout at qr and got driven to and from the track. been to a drift event lately? only a handfull of cars are towed there champ.

you can either sit there with ya dick tucked between your legs where its nice and safe and be terrified of the cops or you can man up get ya wang out and go to the track and prove to yaself and others what ya car can do

So off topic, where are the pics now your car has been resprayed? Erin said it looks realllllly nice.

Now back on topic. What might help a few people is SDT and a few other companys run driver training track days. Where they teach you how to drive properly round a track etc. They arent too badly priced, like they are more than a normal track day, but then you do have someone in the car teaching you what you should and shouldnt be doing. Might help a few people get in to it more.

^^^ i had a link to one in brisane area.. was awesome... damn i lost the link.. was like $300 ish i think and you get to use a diffferent car from yours to learn in... you own rw, they give you fw.. hehe.. its crazy.. and crazzzzy fun... they had a toyota ae86 last time i think... beat up, but sweet...

crashing is good. you some times learn quicker.. hehe... been there done that..hehe :D . airbags work well in the skyline.. to much white power though, you smell like that crap for a while..hehe

Series II believe what you want but "Jasma" stamped exhausts mean ABSOLUTELY nothing! Nor does anything else. You WILL still be fined. Sure cops hang around track days etc sometimes...so what....deal with it. Your "secret squirrel" spots that you race are probably as well known to the cops as qr. I've been to the track numerous times and NEVER been fined in cars that WERE illegal and actually modified, no mod plates for anything (high mount turbo etc) and atmo venting screamer pipe and straight through exhaust....bottom line is it all comes down to luck of the draw. Like James said, you can hide at home or come to the realisation that you drive a sterotyped "hoon" car and the police will probably fine you for driving it, illegal or not.

Meh each to their own, i'm not saying i've never street raced, far from it. Just saying that it IS safer and wiser to take it to the track. lol i'm not going to comment any further on modifying cars and getting caught by police or taking it to the track..this seems to be going in circles and it's been covered a million times before.

Besides Series II, you have nothing to worry about defect wise, your car is all legal from what I can see in your sig mod list so I don't think the police will be pulling you over at Maccas and asking you to remove anything...except maybe your pod if it isn't secure.

yeah i should be fine... lol... dont think i list everything in a signature.. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!... have i put anything like no cat blah blah and power fc in my sig (and cleary i own one as i bought it from this forum, just check the buying rating on my account), no i havent, i like to look as legel as i can, instead of ppl blabbing out loud of what they have which is illegal.. LOL

you dont tell ppl what you have or going to do, there the PEOPLE WHO GET CAUGHT... !! if im running 11psi, clearly i have more then what i meantion in my sig..lol.. you only open your eyes to what you can see hey?...

...i poped one more mod in my sig for fun them :P ....

AND true. im over the topic, i feel it can go either way, and depends were you live and what you have been through.. all i can say is,, stay opened minded and dont close your mind to other people thoughts.. ;) . and the topic was asking why they dont see skylines more at track days, and i have put my free words in for you all.. so take it how you need to or how far your mind can take it, or outside the box for once..

LOVE THE HATE!

jasma means nothing.. oh no, i beta rub that of then..

i do need a box for my pod, thanx for reminding me... :ninja: . why would you think if we dont go to track that we stay home.?. and hide? .. hehe. hmm..

Lol you tell them, I didnt buy mine for a track or drift, I just liked the whole concept, they are truely a well made fast car. The level of workmanship is up there with the best and ride comfort etc etc. As a daily you couldnt ask for more, It has cost me to get to this level and I have had to forgo quite a few things to get to it, one day I would like to compete but not until I am able too.

bahaha 93 with 100k on the clock? yer mabey if ya speedo has been wound back, try 200 thou

has it been thrashed? every klm from the day i got it.

is it modified? most people know whats done to it, sure is modded

been to track days? shitloads, drove to morgan park, a good couple of hundred ks away from the coast, thrashed the car all day long in the heat, helped slip change his waterpump on his 31 drove home again and drove to work the next day.

door to door racing? a well known driver throwing his car sideways behind you because he ran outta brakes and is about to ram the back of my car close enough for ya?

ive been for a casual cruise and smashed my clutch and had to drive the car home in 3rd yet ive been to a track day and spent the day belting round the circuit with other cars with the aircon on and the radio going.

been through 3 gearboxes, 2 diffs, 3 turbos, an intercooler.

im not rich, nor am i even well off, im just a lowly tradesman but god f**king damn have i enjoyed owning a skyline.

essentially what im saying is you can have a daily drive and thrash the crap outta it. if you learn how to maintain your car and repair it yourself its gonna cost you less. Sitting there and being scared of taking your car to the track and enjoying its true potential is not only a waste of a car, but your robbing yourself of the pleasure of truly enjoying one of nissans greatest creations, GTR or otherwise.

seriesII you might be able to thump a v8 commodore on the street but when youve beaten a 100k gto round a race track lap after lap, then you truly know what your car is capable of.

dont want the fines? dont mod the car, or better yet, dont own one. if your not prepared to take the good with the bad with owning a particular type of car (steriotypes ect) then put it up for sale. But again, your robbing yourself of the joy and experience because your afraid of the boys in blue, They win, you loose either way. For the record, cops have been hounding import owners since they hit the streets of aus.

enjoy your car any way you choose to, but dont rob yourself of the experience that your car has the potential to give you.

Well bloody said! I agree with you Noel.

And thats all I have to say about that.

lol........ .. you say funny things ;P

"smarter" would be for "you" to point out your issue in the conversation, and what you dont understand..... lol...

I don't have "an issue in the conversation". Actually I have no idea what you are talking about, as your sentence construction is shocking. Did you mean my "point of view"?

calling some one elses free mind stupid?, really shows how much of a moron you are?, so you took your self down on that one. hhehe... thats called Ignorant.

I didn't say you were stupid, I said you say stupid things, and you do. You are constantly contradiciting yourself. Please get your story straight. Oh, and STOP STREET RACING.

Also, congratulations on the personal attack on my intelligence, calling me a moron. Well thought out! That one really cut me to the quick

Please....enough with the ramblings. We have all gathered by now that you are too soft, and cannot afford the petrol, to take your car to the track, so please sell it and buy a Camry.

i bath in hate :(

I'm sure you've had plenty of practice :(

Not that I'm from gods country but I just got home from smashing my drive shaft at the drags if it makes you feel any better.

made me feel better. thanks adam.

f**king idiot.. you aren't going to get cornered by the police at a track day, you are at no higher risk of getting defected there then you are when you travel to your "unknown place" (thought i'd jump on the band wagon there warwick! lol).

If you were smart, you'd listen to some of the advice here.

$100 says you've never been to the track and are talking out your ass.

$100 says liz is right...

this thread started off with a good point but turned into shit... yes literal SHIT. I've crapped better conversation than what you guys are arguing about! ;)

hahaha.. i love this... lol... might keep going just for the hell of it hey.. seems to bring attention.. any one wanna have a drink on the weekend. hahahaha..... haha.. ... i can afford alot more then most of you here.. most of you prob have never been off the gold coast.. haha... lets all stick to gether, make a topic and not take anything in... all so one sided... hha. "some" are laughable here.. i wasent going to waste time posting, but its sooooo fun....and im getting to people so much so that means something, . see me on the street, you are all welcome to come and say hi , but ohh, but dont leave your oner sided close minded forum at home, bring a laptop and stat logged in... lmao

listen to you?.. liz, if you can read, i have placed alot that i agree with ppl.. hah. go back and read all the pages before you try... dont care who you are...

i can afford alot more then most of you here..

This stands out, I don't know you, nor dislike you. But why do you own a Gtst with basic mods? if you have a bank roll for more. Sure, you may like gtst's, however i'm just interested.

    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
    • Any update on this one? did you manage to get it fixed?    i'm having the same issue with my r34 and i believe its to do with the smart entry (keyless) control module but cant be sure without forking out to get a replacement
    • So this being my first contribution to the SAU forums, I'd like to present and show how I had to solve probably one of the most annoying fixes on any car I've owned: replacing a speedometer (or "speedo") sensor on my newly acquired Series 1 Stagea 260RS Autech Version. I'm simply documenting how I went about to fix this issue, and as I understand it is relatively rare to happen to this generation of cars, it is a gigantic PITA so I hope this helps serve as reference to anyone else who may encounter this issue. NOTE: Although I say this is meant for the 260RS, because the gearbox/drivetrain is shared with the R33 GTR with the 5-speed manual, the application should be exactly the same. Background So after driving my new-to-me Stagea for about 1500km, one night while driving home the speedometer and odometer suddenly stopped working. No clunking noise, no indication something was broken, the speedometer would just stop reading anything and the odometer stopped going up. This is a huge worry for me, because my car is relatively low mileage (only 45k km when purchased) so although I plan to own the car for a long time, a mismatched odometer reading would be hugely detrimental to resale should the day come to sell the car. Thankfully this only occurred a mile or two from home so it wasn't extremely significant. Also, the OCD part of me would be extremely irked if the numbers that showed on my dash doesn't match the actual ageing of the car. Diagnosing I had been in communication with the well renown GTR shop in the USA, U.P.garage up near University Point in Washington state. After some back and forth they said it could be one of two things: 1) The speedometer sensor that goes into the transfer case is broken 2) The actual cluster has a component that went kaput. They said this is common in older Nissan gauge clusters and that would indicate a rebuild is necessary. As I tried to figure out if it was problem #1, I resolved problem #2 by sending my cluster over to Relentless Motorsports in Dallas, TX, whom is local to me and does cluster and ECU rebuilds. He is a one man operation who meticulously replaces every chip, resistor, capacitor, and electronic component on the PCB's on a wide variety of classic and modern cars. His specialty is Lexus and Toyota, but he came highly recommended by Erik of U.P.garage since he does the rebuilds for them on GTR clusters.  For those that don't know, on R32 and R33 GTR gearboxes, the speedometer sensor is mounted in the transfer case and is purely an analog mini "generator" (opposite of an alternator essentially). Based on the speed the sensor spins it generates an AC sine wave voltage up to 5V, and sends that via two wires up to the cluster which then interprets it via the speedometer dial. The signal does NOT go to the ECU first, the wiring goes to the cluster first then the ECU after (or so I'm told).  Problems/Roadblocks I first removed the part from the car on the underside of the transfer case (drain your transfer case fluid/ATF first, guess who found out that the hard way?), and noted the transfer case fluid was EXTREMELY black, most likely never changed on my car. When attempting to turn the gears it felt extremely gritty, as if something was binding the shaft from rotating properly. I got absolutely no voltage reading out of the sensor no matter how fast I turned the shaft. After having to reflow the solder on my AFM sensors based on another SAU guide here, I attempted to disassemble the silicone seal on the back of the sensor to see what happened inside the sensor; turns out, it basically disintegrated itself. Wonderful. Not only had the electrical components destroyed themselves, the magnetic portion on what I thought was on the shaft also chipped and was broken. Solution So solution: find a spare part right? Wrong. Nissan has long discontinued the proper sensor part number 32702-21U19, and it is no longer obtainable either through Nissan NSA or Nissan Japan. I was SOL without proper speed or mileage readings unless I figured out a way to replace this sensor. After tons of Googling and searching on SAU, I found that there IS however a sensor that looks almost exactly like the R33/260RS one: a sensor meant for the R33/R34 GTT and GTS-T with the 5 speed manual. The part number was 25010-21U00, and the body, plug, and shaft all looked exactly the same. The gear was different at the end, but knowing the sensor's gear is held on with a circlip, I figured I could just order the part and swap the gears. Cue me ordering a new part from JustJap down in Kirrawee, NSW, then waiting almost 3 weeks for shipping and customs clearing. The part finally arrives and what did I find? The freaking shaft lengths don't match. $&%* I discussed with Erik how to proceed, and figuring that I basically destroyed the sensor trying to get the shaft out of the damaged sensor from my car. we deemed it too dangerous to try and attempt to swap shafts to the correct length. I had to find a local CNC machinist to help me cut and notch down the shaft. After tons of frantic calling on a Friday afternoon, I managed to get hold of someone and he said he'd be able to do it over half a week. I sent him photos and had him take measurements to match not only the correct length and notch fitment, but also a groove to machine out to hold the retentive circlip. And the end result? *chef's kiss* Perfect. Since I didn't have pliers with me when I picked up the items, I tested the old gear and circlip on. Perfect fit. After that it was simply swapping out the plug bracket to the new sensor, mount it on the transfer case, refill with ATF/Nissan Matic Fluid D, then test out function. Thankfully with the rebuilt cluster and the new sensor, both the speedometer and odometer and now working properly!   And there you have it. About 5-6 weeks of headaches wrapped up in a 15 minute photo essay. As I was told it is rare for sensors of this generation to die so dramatically, but you never know what could go wrong with a 25+ year old car. I HOPE that no one else has to go through this problem like I did, so with my take on a solution I hope it helps others who may encounter this issue in the future. For the TL;DR: 1) Sensor breaks. 2) Find a replacement GTT/GTS-T sensor. 3) Find a CNC machinist to have you cut it down to proper specs. 4) Reinstall then pray to the JDM gods.   Hope this guide/story helps anyone else encountering this problem!
