Coilover wear?

Can coilovers actually wear out? My Zeal suspension is as bouncy as all hell. Even if i adjust the damper dial on its hardest setting really is a bit too bouncy :D

Could this be a sign of wear?

There may not actually be anything wrong with them, and maybe they're just naturally bouncy but I wouldn't have much of an idea what they would have originally been like.

I know with normal shockers, obviously too much bounce in the car is a sign of wear.. but does this happen with coilovers???

Can they be repaired or like "regassed" (??) or do you have to replace the whole thing??

You can get most aftermarket adjustable shocks rebuilt, but it doesn't come cheaply. Talk to a good suspension shop about it, you might have to get the parts imported.

The damper adjustment is still working though, and it does increment and decrement as i fiddle the dials - if it was stuffed would it stop doing that??

yer, **** it .. if they go i'll just the full whiteline kit installed.. Least its local products, and VMS is apparently going to become an official distributor soon.

thanx for the advice.

My HKS setup apparently needs some work but I'm too busy.

I have to dis-agree,,,. Most Pedders shops use a Shock Dyno,,,how many Import Specialists use one.

yes.. but do they know how to fix it.. or how much is it going to end up costing me? No doubt if i took it to pedders they'd probably try to push onto me a full replacement "sports kit" or whatever they sell for $XXXX

If its $600 for new parts and labour.. $1600 for a full whiteline kit (installed) seems to be a more worthwhile option..
