a guy bought a 32 gtr at work

we thought it had some goodies but was basically stockish

it ran 10.9 on slicks

so its got at a minimum

some sort of low mount twins , we thought just n1s but who knows

remap

full exhaust

hd clutch (which has died since)

intake

injectors and pump

but nothing too crazy

i didnt believe it but it did run a 10

The best way to run a 10 in a GTR, is strip it of absolutely everything, and then chop the roof and boot off in an attempt to make it less than 1000kg. And that would cost you zilch :)

Does the $5k include the rebuild after you blow it up trying? I dont think it would count if you did a 10.99 with the car blowing up at the 401m mark.

But really why bother when you can do it in an old VK or something for $10k including the car  Like its 400m, does it really matter what you do it in? Its going to feel pretty much the same.

Can be done............

1-1 Used Big single Turbo$1700....including manifold

2-Power fc d jetro...installed and tuned.....$1700

3-Bosch fuel pump...$200

4-Second hand set of injectors...555...or...600....$450

5-Nitro...second hand...$350.....fitting $300

You will need to fit fuel pump....Turbo...injectors yourself.....

Leave the tuner to fit...d jetro and Nitro...

Total cost.....$4700......

You are going to run in the tens....but you will fry your clutch and maybe some other things....

The day that someone actually tries this with a GTR is the day they should have said GTR confiscated & replaced with something they are more deserving- like a Camira or a Gemimi . I'll second Omurru's comments but I guess that's part of the down-side of such a car becoming so "affordable" but then again for every GTR that gets trashed I guess that will eventually make the rest more valuable over time

Having said that, it would be interesting to see someone to try this with a big WET nitrous system & a good progressive controller. That way you could run stock everything, incl ECU & injectors etc. Wind the CAS back a bit to knock some timing outa the entire Ign map for when the gas comes in, launch the car with 0% nitrous to be nice to the clutch, be gentle-ish with the gas map 'til you're into 3rd to lessen the chance of grenading the box, losing traction etc then get aggressive with the bottle & with a huge top-end rush I reckon the 10 is a big chance IF you don't pop the bottom-end.

WET Nitrous Kit

(With ALL the fruit) $2500

Progressive Controller $500

Sticky Micky's $500

WBO2 $500

Celebration/Commiseration

Party & Tow (If Req'd) $500

10/1 Bet to cover costs $500

DONE!!

Tyres?

Clutch?

I think its definiately possible what if you cut of the roof, took off the bonnet/boot, removed all lights/AC/trim, took off all the guards and drove the stripped bare chassis with...

ECU-1000

2nd hand turbos-2000

fuel system-1500

tryes-500

you wouldn't be allowed to do an official run but anythings possible :P

Well weight is against you take out the seats, sound deading, angle grinder to the doors no back bar or side skirts and any think else thats not welded down.

JB clutch $1200

3 stage 150shot per stage NOS system

Why has no one done this stock Rb26 4-6k replacement value and you have just kill a good GTR. All so the Z tune could do it maybe with a tick of Nos

A nitrous kit a a few other things to get power down (tyres) will be under $5k all up in part cost.

It may or may not run the 10 in the short number of passes it will run before something important is broken into little peices.

I say invest the $5k for a few years and get more money.

Actually if you only have $5k in funds you can't afford to own a stock second hand GTR and race it. Second hand import GTRs cost an average of $2-3k per year to keep from being put off the road, if you drive it every day. The first few years usually break the unsuspecting hence they are frequently bought and sold, even on this forum.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
