Things You Wish You Had Done When In Japan.

Hey all,

Just at work and have to much time so i started thinking about what i wish i had of done when i was living in JP. I am going back to Japan with my girlfriend (japanese) at the end of the year and we will be living there for about 2-3years so i guess i am also getting ideas on what to do as well.

For me the 2 biggest things that i wish i had of done was to 1. Learn some of the language before i went over and 2. Bought a car, it really sucked not having one especially where i was living as it was a little bit remote, I am hanging out to get back into circuit racing.

I have been studying a bit to try and get the language to a useable level and have started putting money away for a car so that i can have some fun.

2 weeks before we came back we had a kickass Tokyo trip planned out, but i had to get my appendix taken out so i spent a week in hospital instead (only gaijin in the hospital that year) so i didnt get to do half the sightseeing i wanted to!

Interested to hear everyones thoughts

I wish I had gone drifting on the street much more often than I did!

Getting my Japanese to a conversational level would be good too.

I think that those are very amicable things to have wanted to do, the japanese school uniforms are so damn cute and in most cases the girls wearing them.

I think the best thing from that would to be to get your misses to dress in a school uniform.

Definately wanna do some drifting, done plenty of circuit racing in the past but havent tried drifting yet.

Where i will be living is pretty remote and has lots of mountains nearby which could be good.

still here and do what i want. and my japanese is very much conversational too. :P

I don't wanna speak to soon, but yes same here. Can converse quite well now and still do what i want!

But my time is coming... :O

Well it would have been great to take bonsai classes. The problem was I to take bonsai classes. The problem was I couldnt find anyone to teach me except some tafe kinda place and they wanted lots of money and one year. I should have done it.

I wish i had "intimate relations" with more of my NOVA students before I married one. :laughing-smiley-014: Why did the staff tell me I was popular with the 18-20 year olds after I left the company? :closedeyes:

I still havnt gone to a maid cafe.

And the big one, I didnt buy that IMPUL R34 in the car yard on route 2.

So, when are you buying a ring for your girl Sleeper???

my location is looking wierd (Melbourne/åºÆ’島ã®ç¦å±±). Why doesnt the ã«ã»ã‚“ãâ€(nihongo) show up?

Hehehe, the same reason they tell you that a person you never taught before said "you are their favorite teacher" :)

japanese language... I'm happy with my levels.... done

I wanted to try my hand at working at a host bar though... always thought that could be interesting.... but never made the chance when I was in the bigger cities.... ahh well, I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I think everyone on here seems to have/had the same goals or things to do.

Just another question its probably been mentioned already in a different post but....

what does everyone do for a job over in JP, obviously English teacher is the most popular but

just curious as to what people do and what the wage is like. I will be heading back at the end of

the year to stay for a while and would like to do something other than english teaching!

the people I know in japan have pretty varied jobs actually.

I know a few english teachers (mostly through SAU)

one friend works for an american investment bank

one guy exports cars and parts

one guy works in the US military

one guy works in a french investment bank

one guy works for a japanese car dealer

one girl works for a phone company (docomo)

one girl works at the airport

one girl has various jobs

one guy exports cars (in a different part of JP)

one guy works in his dads company (lazer cutting, robotic welding etc)

one girl is a waitress in a nice restaurant

one guy works for IT with Nissan

I don't know what most of them earn but some of them get pretty decent money (around 1100man PA).

some of these guys are japanese though, but there is no reason you couldn't get similar jobs working with foreing companies that operate in japan.

Yeah. I like gardening. An i've always been interested in Bonsai. I've had one for a few years.

So, when I went to Japan, I though "what a great opportunity to learn it here". But it seems to be one of those dying Bushido practices. People could believe me. "but you're young. Only old japanese men do bonsai, i was told by many ppl.

Japan is all about shopping and shopping! It's the only place where you can get the latest gadgets coming from Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba..etc.

So you did'nt do enough shopping in Japan? Or did you like window shopping? If I got addicted to those kinds gadgets, I'd go broke.

      Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!

      Do you have some data like fuel pressure? It's really hard to say if you're still fighting a fuel system issue at this point. Could be something weird like the FPCM dipping out.

      Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
