ust watching CH7 news, with the first round being won by Will Power for Team Australia last weekend. This week they are at Long Beach. Now I have been watching nearly every champ car round since the early 90's, courtesy of the Channel 10 tv coverage. I believe Channel 7 now has the broadcast rights, however they are presently not showing it at any time.

I feel this is an outrage, and is very disappointing to many Champ car and Will Power fans. A few people have discussed it at http://au.messages.yahoo.com/sports/motors...iscussion/3175/

Who else is angry with the decision not to show it?

yeah I used to watch it late on Monday nights on Ten... didnt realise it wasnt on anymore as I didnt even know the series had started till I saw the news tonight about how PT had done his back ;)

dont follow it as closely as I used to..

I had no idea ch7 now owned the rights??

oh well i should at least be at the surfers round this year. One of the companies i work for may have their free simulator set up there, its bee really popular over in the US so far.(nothing like some free advertising :P )

the panoz looks great, with more development it will be a fast car.

not to mention F1 stealing ideas like soft tires (red tires) ect, so it looks like i will be stuck watching the 15 second highlights on the news.

2 podiums for Will

it will be on espn on foxtel if it gets on

apparently the champ cars are on the anti syphoning list so there has been issues playing them in aus on foxtel with channel 7 owning the rights

IRL is broadcast all the time and to be honest champ is on its last legs now with IRL dominating the us open wheeler market for the last 5 years or so since they split . and one of the best IRL drivers is a kiwi , thats close enough to support him

Did they, at any stage, turn right? If so it was probably champ cars.

IRL isn't exactly powering along either.

its pretty popular compared to champ cars

just no where near nascar

cart has been close to bancrupcy a couple of times in the last few years , i cant remember if they did or not though

i think its time to amalamate them together again

and there is 4 or 5 road/street courses in the irl championship

to be honest with out the indy500 champs got nothing really , us open wheeler racing has always been about indy

yeah it was that course on an air strip. danica patrick was in it. is that champ car or IRL?

IRL. I have never seen her race.

Well financially it would probably make sense, however that would mean that if you don't like ovals (like me) then you would be bored for half the year. As it stands, champ car has the perfect setup, only racing on ovals a couple of times a year. It would be sad to lose the only open wheel turbocharged formula in the world too.

    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
