Hi,

After owning skylines for the last 6 or 7 years, i decided that i need a break from the skyline scence so i went out and look for something small, less power, compact but still fun.

At first, i was looking at all the EG CIVICs, SUZUKI CAPPUCINO..........but it was love at first sight, i saw a white Starlet 1.3lt Turbo intercool for sale by one of the SAU VIC member and i was like that it, i have to have it. Two days later and its mine :thanks: , been doing lots of research to see what i can do to it..............................................................................

.and i came across a GLANZA :D:):worship: , i never knew a newer version of the STARLET EXIST! I so want one but none is available in Australia, why?

Toyota never bring it to our shore so why none of the importer try to bring it in? I reckon it's a hit on the Market for small cars, it will turn all this potential Honda buyer around, it will be a CHICK MAGNET. Anyway, here is a few pics of what they look like, enjoy :).

Im with you West :thanks:

The first car I bought new was an Aussie delivered white starlet and I desperately wanted a Glanza.

I looked at a few at the auctions when i was in Japan and decided if I ever saw one crop up in Australia I would try and snap it up.

Very cool little car

I don't think that they are that new, I was in Europe in 2003, and there was a fair few of them on the streets, kitted up with neons and the whole fast and the furious style which was big at the time, the look and sound pretty awesome for a starlet!

No, they are not that new but we dont' get them here that's the thing.

I was just wondering why IMPORTERS won't try to bring them in when they could have a big potential sale.

because its not on the SEVS list... and the reason for that is possibly that the EP91 was sold locally in a not so cool version. If the chassis (with the same silhouette) is sold locally then it can't be imported under SEVS.

you could possibly buy a locally sold EP91 and do a conversion using the parts etc.

....................or i can do it the way most of EVOIII owners did lol!

i wish the genuine altezza could be imported under sevs- the rs200 version with the 3sge beams !!!

no wai... then I couldn't give all the yuppies shit for driving a corolla with leather seats with a lexus badge :)

I'd personally go the turbo Altezza myself, or even better a JZS161 Aristo with a Supra 3.0L Turbo 2JZ.

contact a guy called Kristian (Iron Chef Imports) off ns (and maybe on here) he deals with helping alot of people get cars in and knows his shit.

basically u apply for SEVS approval like in this thread: http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=171649

hehe as keen as kristian is on applying for new SEVS cars, i doubt there's any way he nor anyone else can make the EP91 appear on the SEVS list unless it came in a cabriolet form or some freaky shit like that.

just buy a 4EFTE and jam it in a locally sold EP91 starlet n call it a day.

    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
    • I'd want at least $40K for mine, but thats easy to say cos I'm not selling anyway.
