Hey guys - anyone out there have a set of the Wedsport SA70's in 18's? I'm thinking of getting some but I need to test fit a set before I order them to make sure they fit over my brakes.

I know for example in 18's that rims like LMGT4's and TE37's do fit but rims like CE28's, Volk Challenge and the stock R34 GT-R rims DON'T fit so I really don't want to order something from Japan only to have them not fit.

So if anyone has a set and cen let me test them out that would be super.

Cheers.

It's because Jack runs 365mm rotors. If I ran the propper AP rotors which are also 365mm then I wouldn't have this issues.

But it is because I set up to run the 375mm rotors from the V8SC that I have this problem. Same as Ben and Aaron have with the Harrops with the 382mm rotors. I think you'll even find Jacks CE's were originally Bens and he didn't discover they didn't fit until he'd already bought and paid for them.

So the problem is the internal diameter of the rims.

They're not the Weds mate but I'm happy for you to trial fit the RE30's....

Thanks mate but that doesn't help me with my problem - mainly being the weds are half the price of the RE30's. (which is a shame as I really like the RE30's)

Creful with the designations, some WEDS are cast, soem are forged even though they look the same, the difference is with prefixes etc. My ones are the old series forged.

Leewah has some 18: Weds, though not sure if cast or forged. (Difference betwen a little over 2k new and $4500 )

All SA70's are cast. However I understand there are 2 types of casting - gravity cast and upcast (pressure cast) and the SA70's are made the latter method.

Upcast is a LOT better than gravity cast even though it isn't as good as forged. But upcast has the strength - just not the lightness of forged rims. But the SA70's are still only about 9.5Kgs compared to the SA90's (which are forged) which are about 8.0KG.

Cool, thanks for the info

Frank has the same weds as Leewah, and Frank has AP 6 pots with 365mm rotor..

Snowy, its hard decision to make, i guess you got no choice but to find someone locally that has them to trial fit them, especially with the size of rotors you have....

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
