Well after a recent trip to melbourne for a very unfortunate event... i reckon melbourne is better...

Ive been a few times before but this time it really got to me i guess....

To start the roads are much better, wider, smoother, i did not see 1 pothole at all!

The city is eaiser to navigate, of course it has trams and is set out on a grid

parking is soo easy just about everywhere

girls are hotter definately

car insurance cheaper

houses cheaper

pubs are nicer, not filled with pokies and plasmas

they play AFL not this shithouse league crap

the girls are alot more attractive

it is definately a more coffee/drink based city with lots of beautiful places to chill, relax and i love the laneways around the city!

they dont have peak hour, it is more like "it will take you an extra 20min to get somewhere" in peak hour, compared to our parra road, bridge shithouse infrastructure!

did i mention the girls?

generally better vibe, people are nicer, esp on the roads

every road is so wide! footpaths are wide as too and all so smooth

went out to st kilda and acklin st on a monday night, pubs were almost packed, people everywhere esp girls :)

no potholes to rip wheels apart

4 lane highways! everything is linked better!

umm wat else... i could keep going i guess...

downsides

weather

beaches

brown river instead of blue harbour

stupid names for beer sizes

too many hot girls

ummm all the roads are straight :P

so much is based in sydney!

any additions to my list? from both NSW and VIC people, as this is posted in both areas :)

NSW VS VIC Debate shall we call it

I love Melbourne. I wouldn't say the girls are better looking but I would say that they are more friendly. All the people are. Much less competetive.

You can easily drive around without a map. Lot's of straight lines.

I used to regularly fly down for weekends with mates I met out and about. They would all come up to Sydney for a weekend out (about 2-8 of them) and we would go down there the next weekend. Revolver FTW! (yes I realise what you Melbournians think of me now.)

melbourne ftw!!!!

they did a study on sydney and apparently people there are more arrogant....dunno how true that is cos that was a story by either today tonite or ACA - and you know how brutally honest those 2 shows are :P

I love Melbourne!! It's so much more relaxed than Sydney!!!

I used to live on the border when i was at Uni, so we'd drive down to Melb every weekend for the football!!! It went off!!!

I'm going to Melbourne tomorrow to go look at a few shopping centres.... so I've got the credit card prepped.

melbourne ftw!!!!

yeah i heard about that... its pretty true... but thats cause their work ethic is f**ked... they can pump out 3 days of work in 5 days... thats why they are so relaxed and happy...

I stayed in Sydney for 3 months before we moved to Melbourne... at bondi junction... when you put aside the fact the city was planned by a 7 year old with sim city 1.0 its not that bad... better then bloody Launceston which was just based on a 4yo's scribble with a magnadoodle...

weather is more reliable... at least you know if the suns out... its going to stay out lol however when i was there they had one of the worst hail storms or storms in general ive ever seen (and im from NZ ive seen some bad storms).

Overall i would rate Melbourne better... it is a far better planned and livable place and i do agree the people are more friendly in general, not that the sydneyites arent, they just seem to be more relaxed down here.

Sydney to me is a lot like NZ... nice place to visit... but be f*ked if i would live there if i had the choice.

EDIT:: oh yeah and dont get me started on the rivers here... when i 1st saw the yara i wanted to throw up... looked like everyone else already had anyway. As for the beaches... you have to drive around an hour from the city to find a nice beach... st kilda beach isnt a beach... its a place for junkies and vagrants to go and wipe their arses and sleep.

i go fishing in the river sometimes, i'm expecting to hook a dead body one day...

f**k the rivers are filthy in melb... but still love this place!

as for the pot holes theres f*kn heaps... puts me off getting coilovers lol

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
