Vt Systems Car Audio and Security together with Security In Motion have just taken Australian SPL record in last months Autosalon in the DB Drags event. We are now trying to target the world record and hope to achieve this by Final Battle at Autosalon in Sydney in December 2007. We will have Australia's Loudest car on display In Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney and also compete and demo.

We would be happy to answer any car audio and car security questions you may have, Vernon and Terence from VT Systems and Leon from Security In Motion will be there in person.

LOOK FOR THE "ICE AGE" VAN AND "ICE 2 THE MELTDOWN" VAN.

Hope to see some of you there.

From what i can tell VT Systems car is currently around the 161 db mark.

The Australian overall record is 164.8db.

Untill that number is reached or exceeded the record still remains in Queensland with John Wong.

Unless i am not up to date and the car has already hit around 165 in a DB Drag sanctioned event.

Yes that is the overall loudest, but the record for each year gets reset at the beginning of each year. By the time we get to AutoSalon Final Battle in December we dont see why we can't get 165 or higher, remembering ICEAGE 2 was not fully completed when we got 161.5db and that was using Standard off the shelf Crossfire XT 15's. This is a good starting point.

so do I bring my Bruel & Kaejar along  (google that for those that have NO idea what it is..)

Hi Chris..this is Vernon from VT systems,no need for the B&K meter been there done that....The meter we have to use in Australian db drags is the termlab meter...

Regard from Vernon Terence Leon

Records dont get reset.

Current record stands at 164.8db.

Vernon and VT Systems are currently loudest for this year. Please post about records when they reach 164.9db thank you.

Just want to clear up a misunderstanding. From my conversations with Angelo from db drags Australia I understood that we hold the current Australian record in ss3-4 for the 2007 season...I inderstand completely that the overall record is 164.8...This car was around for a very short time with those numbers.....We will be around for a long time....We wont be one hit wonders....WE ARE ALSO THE LOUDEST EXISTING CAR (not including extreme) in Australia..and we are street registered.Other facts which might be of interest are that we are only using half the power and $450 subs...all crossfire..

sorry if we upset you that was not our intention...we are just stating facts...

Take care

Vernon

You didnt upset me, not even the slightest.

Yes it might be for this season, but it still hasnt hit above the SS3-4 record.

And i am not doubting your facts. I am a record holder myself. I would be seriously pissed off if someone tried to claim they were louder than me when really they are way off. Being the loudest existing car for the season is great and i am very happy that you are pushing the boundries of your class.

As i stated perhaps the topic needs to be changed to AUSTRALIAS LOUDEST CAR for the 2007 SEASON IN ITS CLASS. Overall loudest is still 164.8 and the record stands at that point in SS3-4.

And keep going mate, impressive impressive machine that car of yours is. I have no doubt that you will reach your goal eventually.

Good luck

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
