Hi guys,

Something happened tonight, I came from a friend's party to find that some bastard got a hammer or something and decided to smash my GT-R style spoiler on my Skyline right in the middle. It is shattered to bits and everything looks like a bomb hit it. Luckily my Skyline is still in one piece.

Anyways, I am now faced with the decision of choosing a new wing for my ride. Good chance to swap to, I suppose.

I've done some research, I guess I am now twisting and turning between 3 types of wings/styles...

1. Go wingless

2. Go GT-R style wing (with led)

3. Go D-Wing (drift stealth wing)

4. Go GT-style wing - the one with the metal stands

What do you guys think? If you have some pics of your ride and your chosen preference of a spoiler, this would be great.

Thanks fellas.

Go Genuine GT-R wing... with nismo end caps!

Mate, there two reasons why I want to move away from the GT-R wing.

1. my ride is a GTS-T - not GT-R - why would I have a GT-R wing.

2. It's too expensive, the replicate is already around $500 without paint and fitting.

3. Everyones got them.

Cheers mate.

My ride is black - I got a full GT-R kit, but the GT-R wings are just too bloody common (excuse the pun); what do you think?

Does anyone know what wing is on this Skyline in this clip.. ??

It looks like a stealth wing plus some other wing

wingless on a r33 is cheapest and therefore shittest looking. the rear quarters aren't level with the boot. if you want true wingless you're gonna have to shell out for a flush fitting boot. which actually does look good.

drift/stealth wing is ok but im not a fan

the gtr wing on the other hand looks the best and is my pick. doesnt matter if your car is a gtst, just replace the bits on the side with plain ones or nismo as mentioned above.

gt wing can work but its difficult on r33s cos of their roundness. also is a lot less legal than the rest

+100 wow, most informative post I've ever seen. Thanks so much basti, much much appreciated.

I think I might go for the GT-R wing again (had it already) but guess this suits the R33 best.

Yeah, I might put Nismo on the sides then.

Do you know of a place that sells GT-R wings at a good price - I will need it to be painted too.

Damn, the Jun wing is so hot - I like it - but do not know where to get it?

Cheers,

jake33 - check the business traders section, a couple of them stock it

I picked up one of these the other day really cheap from an import wreckers :). Bought it mainly for Autosalon & show'n'shines, it's not a wing I'd really want on my daily.

Mate i went a original GTR boot lid and spoiler when i did mine i bought it from a bloke that had rolled his GTR ay wakefield i had the boot lock cut out and welded before the shinny stuff was applied and people comment on the ass end all the time so IMO Go THE GTR it didn't let me down GL.

haha that pic of the red 33s wing is soooo ghey!

roughly how much are the stealth/drift wings to buy?????

Yeah, the red wing is kinda gay indeed. a bit of overkill for sure.

matey, the drift wing is around $200 unwanted, painting will cost around $150 - so you're looking at around $350 painted then you'll have to look at installation costs - $50.00 would do it.

Good luck. Let me know if you've found cheaper!

That's hot bro! Thanks for the info and pics. Yeah, I had a GT-R replica wing on too.

The only reason I don't want to go back to a GT-R wing is that everyone - nearly everyone John and Peter has one. LOL

Well fellas, if the polls have anything informative to tell; it would suggest that the GT-R replica wings seem to be everyone's preference followed by the humble, but luxury-like drift wing.

It really makes me wonder, everyone wants to be different, but yet everyone seems to not mind being way too similiar. I guess because the GT-R wing is nice and really brings out the R33's true looks. Ummm...

Has anyone tried this.... a drift wing with a R34 Nismo GT-R style wing on... I think I may challenge the status quo and do this. I will post up pics for everyone soon - it looks pretty aggressive.

Regards,

Although the GT-R replica wings have left the rest for dead - I must ask... what do people see in the little duck wing (Drift wing) that is so appealing, it looks weak as fark... LOL

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
