Hks Sqv Bov

Hi all..

just bought new hks sqv few days ago..i have the old adjustable one before and it flutter

pic below..

just wondering if i can adjust it somehow to make it not like a whistle sound..

it sound like fireworks everytime i took my foot off..

plumbing back is not an option..

and i have greddy pod and intercooler..was wishing if i could make the same sound like the old one..

If you want a sound like the old one, you put the old one back on.

Otherwise, live with it or pay for a tune/ECU.

There is no real way to stop the stalling/backfiring otherwise. Thats what happens when you use the ATMO

i sold the old one..

and i never said i got backfire or stalling why i should tune it..

just want the noise not to be to high pitch..

Well you said a firework everytime it goes off.

Firework generally describe "backfiring".

And as for the noise, thats how it is.

what do you think it will sound like if i took off the fins..

is there anywhere difference inside on the 2 bov..

i know old one got adjustable, i adjust it hard or soft still doesnt make such a high pitch like the new one..

it will still sound high pitched, I've got one on my rb20 and still getting stalling issue

anyone here got the old hks for sale..

might keep both..

or is there any bov that flutter..hehe

just find out that you can change the insert on it.. gold,silver and purple..

Why is plumbing it back not an option? You can get plumback attachments for the ssqv...and yes...the fin inserts will change the sound...just google it up and see which one is the one to get so you do not get that high pitched sound you don't want...but thats kind of the reason why people get the ssqv in the first place...

autobarn should be able to get it for you. otherwise you can get a plumback kit for them and then you will have the same sore of sound as the stock.

i get the new hks cause i thought gonna have same sound like the old one..

not so high pitch.. still want a bit of sound but not too loud so dont want to plumb it back..

They you shouldn't have bought an HKS SSQV.

Perhaps a little more research before you buy in future would be a wise idea.

my old hks flutter,i dont think need to research again being the same brand and shape.

btw anyone have any idea which bov used on r34 gtr signal car..

i got this on my car.

I just made a gasket myself with the hole in the gasket roughly half the size of the original gasket. That will get you flutter. This was quickest/cheapest option for me.

No bov makes flutter sound, you just had the bov on way too tight so it was essentially blocked off. If you want flutter run no bov.

I dont have pics, but you can get flutter if you have no bov, or u can get flutter using the HKS which sounds different.

1. Take off the stock BOV

2. Copy shape of gasket

3. Make new gasket with the OPENING hole MUCH SMALLER. (the circle in the middle of the gasket needs to be smaller...)

4. Put new HKS bov with new gasket.

is that healthy for the turbo? to me thats like blocking the air a little bit cos it making air turbulence and not escaping smoothly.

its not the healthiest but not too bad.

i used to have a lotta backfire with no bov and i bearly have any now with the HKS.

Lots of cars run with no bov, search for 'flutter' and read the countless threads arguing about not running a bov. Its not going to do any harm if you are running basically standard boost.
