Fellas,

I got a hand full of fines, defects notices and penalties for driving home from Nobile Park a few weeks ago. I just received word from 5 friends (2 of which drive Skylines) that the police in VIC (especially Eastern suburbs) are going at it HARDCORE to fine, defect and penalise anyone that drives a modified vehicle. Rules have tightenned up so don't think if you "only have a couple of mods" then you're safe... they have been instructed by their superiors and are running specific campaigns to really "crack down" hard.

Let's face it fellas, most of us that drive Skylines will have modifications - some more, some less, but mods are mods - a few of you may say, but yeah, some mods are legal - no mods are legal - new laws are saying that you cannot modify your vehicle at all... anyway, just watch out fellas - I know more defects will be out their way... just read the following police press releases... look at the number of defects given out... it's insane...

3. http://www.police.vic.gov.au/content.asp?Document_ID=7635

Need I say more? Don't know about you fellas, but I'm going paranoid, I can't drive my Skyline to the shops and feel safe anymore - I don't drive over the speed limit, damn - I don't even do anything that's not allowed and they still pull me over all the time - if they want to get you, they will and they can... that's the problem...

Remember, with new legislation - if the cops feel your car is "deemed to be unsafe, unroadworthy etc..." they can impound your car for 48 hours - then you will have to pay money just to get your car back coupled with fines, defects and penalties... one of the cops who defected me before, said they he can actually impound my car and get it towed away if he felt the need for it - and guess what? We cop the towing charge too - it's not cheap... $480 upwards...

Peace to all - ...

I reckon, after my next payment - I would have spent over $2ks on fines within the last 18 months already - ridiculous....!!

Do you realise all your links are at least one year old?!

Why would you create a thread like that? Too much in your hands?

I highly doubt that you got pulled over and fined the way you described. What was it again? 3 times in one night?

Show us some proof, upload those defect notices.

Sorry to kinda hijack thread.....

But what if your registered in NSW, and goto....DECA for the weekend for the motokharna etc .....are the police lilkely to pick on interstaters with their laws?

whats the go?

^^^ haha

"new laws are saying that you cannot modify your vehicle at all... "

If that were the case. you would need to pull half the cars off the road in Australia to enforce that statement.

Well i can tell you right now, im not settling for a hatch...

I have asked about this, whatever state your car is registered in or state you are licenced to then you abide to those laws... for example if you are a P plater from VIctoria and can do 110 but NSW can only do 90 you are able to do 110 in NSW.

mate i live in alice springs its a shit hole but i own an r34gtt and the cops cant do shit cause there car are to slow to keep up with us

Yes, lets encourage people to run from the cops, cause that always ends well. Idiot.

hes only 18 ... poor fella u have to learn speeding is not going to get you far vrs a highway patrol .. sure you can floor it and hit the speed limiter and prob beat him in the begining .. they will catch up tho..

But I did have a dream I was in a cop chase (watched police chases that night) and damn that was a good run .. but i'd never do it in real life..

Not to mention at top speed 300km/h ish you puttin huge amount of strain on the engine and most likely if you hold it for awhile it will die.. blow up or ull crash..

dont speed, dont drink drive, dont drug drive... follow those rules and you'll be right .. you lose your licence kiss ur turbo machine goodbye too :P

And I am such a post whore .. but i seriously back this

Big article on whether or not vic is revenue raising big time..

Something interesting..

VicRoads figures show that as of May 31, there were 29,016 drivers with 10 demerit points and another 16,459 with 11 demerit points.

This is 9000 more drivers at risk of losing their licences than at the same time in 2005. VicRoads does not have figures for last year.

State Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu said he was staggered at the high number of drivers with so many demerit points.

"I don't think there's any doubt that this has been caused by the proliferation of speed cameras in Victoria," Mr Baillieu said.

"And there's no doubt Victorians believe that there is revenue-raising going on.

But the Government and the Transport Accident Commission strongly defended the use of speed cameras in tackling the road toll, which stands at 151 compared with 153 at this time last year.

1. The articles are a year old or more in some cases.

So how is that relevant to a "current" crackdown?

2. The Police can not impound your car for it being unroadworthy. Thats an absolute load of crap.

Stop posting inaccurate information, or claims and links to old information and claim that it is current.

Its nothing that hasnt already been posted 12 months ago

ignuz - its always been revenue raising

It was 550mil 3 or 4 yeras ago, now its sitting around 800mil, and this is because of the increase number of cameras.

If all of a sudden the cameras were turned off, the Vic State Gov't would loose out on 800mil. Thats a fair hole to thier budget that they would need to find elsewhere.

And now with the desalination plant going to almost double water bills across the state... I can see Bracksie being outed. If the opposition was smart. They would raise the tolerance to 10km/h rather than 3km/h over.

Most Victorians are stupid for voting him in another term if you ask me

So while the revenue is going up by 100-200mil a year. Its not even marking a mark on the road toll which is what its meant to be doing.

Load of crap Bracks. Load of crap you are.

All the hoo-haa about the cameras being safer, is just a load of tripe when there is no change in the road toll, or serious trauma numbers.

Just trying to help fellas - if you find this information untrustworthy etc, then that's fine - nothing personal to me. Just thought I'll warn our members of what may happen... nothing more.

Regards,

its all money raising, if the government wanted to truley save lives they would try and minimize deaths caused by doctors.

There are an estimated 8000 deaths in Australia each year as a result of medical errors, more than the annual road toll of about 1600.

Dont hear much in the media about deaths caused by medical errors...probably cause they cant squeeze money out of them with some bs excuse

The part that gets me angry is that there are no noticeable changes in the deathtoll/accidents on our roads as mentioned above yet we still get stung with stricter rules and more cameras. Oh i have an idea how to reduce the deaths on our roads, lets introduce MORE cameras!!

Its such a dirty scheme they have going but what can we do about it?

*news flash* State government announces yet another record breaking budget revenue!

Not only are they introducing more cameras, but they're going to introduce these no turbo, v8 laws for the P platers. I wonder if these laws are actually gonna lower the number of road fatalities.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
