Haha, cuddle chair

Dave (Nytsky), I've got an ecv. It does bring the noise down a lot, but what I was saying was its just the car itself that brings the attention. People have been defected even for not loud aftermarket exhausts (not really defective at all)

Get another couple of doors. Works for me. :P

I've been pulled over thrice. First time cos the copper just wanted to have a look cos he couldn't work out what it was (R34 4 door 3.5 years ago was a rare thing), second time I chirped 2nd gear so fair enough but he didn't book me, third time one decided that accelarating quickly from servo to 110km/h for the freeway was not allowed. No ticket but it does show that they are attracted to the noise. My car is quiet but at redline to a casual observer it just seems to them that you must have been speeding. I mean how often has some random citizen motioned to you to slow down just cos you are doing 50 in 2nd gear? It's all about perceptions.

.....every time I drive through a construction zone. And my car is relatively quiet.

I have a fair few mods (usual stuff), but the main stuff that is apparent would be the exhaust (3.25" straight pipe with no mufflers and the pod filter). My exhaust is quite loud because of the turbo, but I like it as loud as possible

lol you think thats loud. i run a pipe from turbo.. well still got cat.. but straight thru pipe.. Friends tell me its freaking loud.. but im just use it now.. hahah

Where did you get your evc from? also how much!!

Edit: Noticed you wrote straight thru pipe with no mufflers.. So i mis-read it.. Ok yours is loud as well.. But how cool does it sound eh lol??

Been pulled over a few times.. been let off for everything they have trried to imply. Have had a 5l commodore, a Gen III & now R32... all noise makers..all on my p's.

No B.S = generally no fine unless you were caught doing something stupid.

some cops are nasty some are nice. being on your p's makes a huge difference. since being on my blacks i haven't been pulled over once.

My car is quiet off boost. real quiet. 3.5" turbo back but with a cat, hotdog and rear muff. only when boost peaks and the screamer lets go its a different story. i like that better it scares the shit out of people but you can still drive around without being noticed.

also keep your car dirty. thats a good tip.

i love all the attention skyines get. people hate you for it and dick heads love you for it and you can tell them all to snort piss. i only drive mine because its the best bang my buck buys.

dont know if that makes a lot of sense, i'm a little ill and a little out of it on medication

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
