Looking good mate, and yeah nice power curve.

Pitty about the burns, my car owes me far too much skin as well haha.

Thanks mate. The curve for the higher boost run is almost exactly the same but another 40-odd kW more and for another several-hundred rpm.

Ten Inevitable Truths of a Major Project.

Here are some things I've learned so far...

1) When calculating a budget for a project of this magnitude, put all of the hypothetical figures down on paper, study them intently, then crumple the paper up and wipe your ass with it.

2) Nothing will go as planned. Write that down, tatoo it on your thigh, whatever, this is a guarantee.

3) When something appears that it's going to be easy...it's a trick. Back away slowly, get reinforcements, drink a beer, bitch to your buddy about it, consult the internet, drink another beer, and pray for the best.

4) Company's that manufacture high quality go fast parts are extremely proud of the quality they put into their parts, and they're not afraid to let you know how proud they are via product pricing.

5) It's ok to speculate on a time frame for your project to be completed within. Once you've convinced yourself as to what that time frame is...walk into the bathroom, look in the mirror, then point and laugh hysterically at the idiot staring back at you.

6) It's highly recommended to surround yourself with good friends before deciding to have something like this done. Not only will they drink beer with you, they'll talk you out of pulling the plug on the whole thing countless times, convince you that you really don't hate Skylines, and somehow make you feel better about spending a king's ransom on a car that redbooks for about 5 grand.

7) When dealing with a factory produced aftermarket block, parts claimed to be direct replacements or "bolt ons" are anything but. What the manufacturer means is that the part easily bolts on to their test car, not necessarily your car. Consider yourself lucky if you know someone with the ability to make a one off custom bracket enabling the use of your "bolt on".

8 ) When you're told to expect something to arrive via UPS on a certain day, it's usually safe to assume you can add a couple days to that. If what you're waiting on to arrive is holding up all other progress, add at least two weeks.

9) Under their exterior coatings, AN fittings are actually made of 24 karat gold. In this down economy, it may be wise to invest in these as opposed to other stocks.

10) Familiarize yourself with the following statements, as you will repeat them often...

- "It costs how much!?!?"

- "What do you mean it doesn't work??"

- "Uhhh...I didn't budget for that."

- "No...it's still sitting in pieces."

Amen brother - I relate - I feel the pain - It's all so true.

1) The Silver Skyline (SKYLYN) that blew up on the Dyno, then another WS fixed it up - Double whammy for costs.

2) The Cosmo - Went in for a Turbo upgrade - came out with a rebuilt engine 6 months later.

3) The S12 Project - Is in the workshop still and is onto it's 2nd Rego since being in there

(1) - $70K including Car - 12 months off the road

(2) - $50K including Car - 6 months off the road

(3) - $10K including Car - 12 Months ++ off the road

2.5 years off the road and $130K later

Events attended in last 4 years -

3 Drag Days, 3 drift Days, 5 track days.

Bloody expensive and time consuming hobby.

I should have just bought an R34 GTR.

buy the time you get this car back you probably could have bought a r35

well i've spent a small fking fortune on my grey GTR and it's probably the least nice car i've owned. I honestly have no bloody idea why I like it so much. I literally have enough parts to be given a complete empty shell and turn it into a fully running 600hp GTR. it's bloody stupid. but hey, almost finished now thank god.

nearly everything on the car I have done at least twice (including engine rebuilds)... latest saga is a almost brand new HKS turbo that destroyed itself after 3 runs on the skid pan... last 2 motorkhanas and 1 trackday I've been to I've a combined driving time of about 5 minutes

car is now for sale and guess what? I'm secretly hoping it doesn't sell... yep I've got problems... although you make me feel a little better B-Man!

    • Input shaft bearing. They all do it. There is always rollover noise in Nissan boxes - particularly the big box. Don't worry about it unless it gets really growly.
    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve. 
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
