I reckon its all right. Brother Tony is talking to me and all i see are his big chops going up and down, up and down, up and down... up and down.

SO!.. Must be an excellent drop if that after a token sixer im distracted from Brother Tonys conversation because there are sounds of dinosaurs mating eminating from our bathroom.

So raises the question, reflecting on the nights Elephant beers, does the premium price justify the delusions? Im pretty sure that by sunrise...another 6-8 drinks... Tony will be explaining to the local constabulary,, just why he saw fit to kill me. After all, a bloke, who is trying to sleep....can only handle a rambling housemate throwing things at him..some sharp, some not , for so long. At which point a good ass kicking is in order.

So, i write this tale, not only to endorse my new fav beer, but as a record for the courts...that perhaps the sentence that Brother Tony saw fit to hand down....well, maybe was a little too harsh. PS...Tell my family i would like a song by the The Righteous Brothers to be played at my wake!

This is just wrong on so so many levels.

I called Tony this morning at 10:30 which I dont think is too early on a Saturday morning and he was hardly making sense.

Then I could hear, what can only be described as a Wild African Hyena laughing in the background, it certainly didnt sound human.

Anyways, Tony WAS supposed to come to my place at around 12, here it is at 1730 and not a word......!

So if you want to be totally knocked out by a drink, I can certainly recommend these beers to anyone that may want to get a little messed up.....

LOL.....

HAHAHAHAH Tee Total NOT FTW!!!! :D

Where did I put that 10c size violin! :)

Yep, spoke to Tony today, he couldn't stop praising the damn stuff :)

I think i have a new beer to add to my european beer fridge...

If it can f*CK brisby up, then it must be a top drop!

Next time my housemate goes to Leongatha i'll get him to stop by the Grand Ridge Brewery and get some SUPERSHINE!!!

Supershine (11.0% alc)

A full flavoured, extra-strength beer, brewed in the tradition of an English barley wine. For sipping - share a bottle between a few friends.

Believed to be Australia's strongest bottled beer, right in our backyard!

ps. he mentioned www.boozle.com.au for cheap beer - best site EVER!

I know the hyena you speak of :sorcerer:

Well Brisby I'm glad you asked...

Elephant pours well with a nice large head that dissipates quickly, but leaves decent lace on the glass. It has a very crisp, very pale yellow that is true to any premium lager. Smell is more European than malt liquor, which should make sense as this is inherently a European lager. It has a grainy taste and a slight alcohol bite, hard to tell this has considerably more alcohol than other Euro lagers, but on par with most "high gravity" malt liquors with regards to density.

It is taste where this beer departs from the nomenclature of "malt liquor" and into the Euro Strong Lager category. Most malt liquors are very sweet, malty, and quite round. This beer really hits home with its similarity with traditional Euro lagers. Granted, there is MUCH more malt to this beer, but it is complemented with a nice citrus twinge of hops to balance it out. Mouthfeel is also good, more along with a malt liquor's fullness, but drinkability is much better when thinking about the taste and smell.

This is one beer that will get you drunk, but won't leave you with as bad a taste in your mouth as with a crappy malt liquor. I'm sure you know that thogh Bris

I'm more of a fan of the Sapporo cans Bree was getting me the other month. $70 a slab, but the cans were full JDM imported cans....oh and they were 500ml. 4 cans and i was ready for anything.

Sapporo Larger? White Can, Black logo?

Age, get yourself down to "Tokyo Deli" - 418 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick and pick yourself up a slab of "rejiyo". It's malty as and really boody good, I know you'd like it :)

troy you butt munch. should be downing a shot of whiskey before you follow with the beer. are you faggoty pretend irish or hard core old school irish?

AGE, don't read the label on that JDM sapporo... it's made in canada. the japanese sapporo comes in brown bottles. the silver cans are pure CDM. lol.

At work we sell those huge sapporo cans. They are silver and cost about 8-9 bucks a can.

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
