nice pic that Dave took with the front wheels off the deck on launch.

nice pic paul - TWOOGLE must have so much more potential considering that your suspension isnt even setup.

what did it end up making awkw? im sure its somewhere in this thread but reading thru almost 30pages seems painful

Thanks Rob. Did a 1.38 the run before and blew the turbo outlet pipe off changing from 1st to 2nd...still ran 9.8

Mate it went 6.0 @ 114 to 1/2 track. What do you think it is capable of at that boost/power level?

Looking back I did 1.39 in the drag-r at 1740kg on ET streets so Meremere's not toooo bad off the line I suppose, its the rest of the roller coaster ride and the bumps and lack of top end grip thats the problem, Reece runs 3-4 10th quicker in Aussie easy, he told me I'd be shocked how much power you can use from 1/2 track compared with here.

On the aborted 9.7 run in the drag-r I had 5.something @ 117mph at 1/2 track and that car has gone on to run 9.4 @ 155mph on a pretty average air frield runway so you'd have to be talking 9.40-9.50 with 6.0 @ 114???

Rob

9.4 ??? on low boost?

9.4 on 29psi

turned it up 3 psi and blew the tyres off it (smoked all four right through 1st and part through 2nd) but still ran 9.7. Tyre pressures were a little high and the suspension needs tweaking before we can run more power. Its scary to think we have around 6-7 psi up our sleeve which equates to around 130hp at the tyres. Ive discussed a custom rear cradle with a supplier today with adjustable pick-up points which may be handy.

the 60' times on 29psi ranged from 1.39 all the way down to 1.36. Lots of fun

10/10 for the sig Paul your a talented boy arent you. I agree with Marko a little bit of smoke would ne nice. Or how about have 2 or 3 different sequences one staging the R doing a massive burnout etc etc you know what i mean.

Congrats Paul on another PB. I am sure that you will soon see the magic 8 pass

Mark ran 9.38 with the same set-up (turbo kit and box) with 100whp more using the clutch to shift gears. Changed to flatshifting and went to 9.0...so at least 1/10th saved on each shift as well as the added momentum gained with the increase in MPH.

The maths looks to be in my favour for a high 8...but theory doesn't always carry into practice easily.

Paul was good to meet you and was impressed when i saw you run the 9.4, pitty you broke out. did you manage to grab the next gear after all.

yes...was its pass with the car shifting properly, went into 4th like a hot knife into butter. I dont press anything other than the accelerator pedal when going through the traps...this back off when in front or pressing the brakes before the traps shits me. I should have given myself a little more headroom with the dial-in...i first decided to dial 9.47 a 1/10th quicker than my PB which was 9.57...but changed to 9.50. So it wouldn't have mattered either way. Next event ill have more of an idea and be able to bracket race it a bit better. Smashed him at the tree with a 0.02 reaction and the race was over at 1/2 track...he should have bought me a beer for letting him win.

    • The trigger kit I have is similar to the one in the link below. While going through Facebook, I saw someone else mention a similar issue, and I’m starting to think this could be related to the crank gear itself. I understand these parts are CNC machined, but maybe some earlier versions or individual pieces might have slight inconsistencies—it just doesn’t look right in my case. https://www.facebook.com/share/16an8evZd9/?mibextid=wwXIfr I originally installed the crank gear using the thin OEM washer, but as shown in the attached photo, the timing belt walks very close to the edge. When I tried using a Nitto washer—which is thicker—it actually made the issue worse. The belt walks about 1mm off the front edge, which raises more concern about alignment.   I’ve gone through the full process of elimination:   The tensioner pulley and bolt are brand new and installed correctly. The bolt isn’t bent and is oriented properly. The back of the tensioner and the idler pulley are clean and seated correctly. The idler sits slightly more forward, which I understand is due to its design. I’ve experimented with both tight and loose belt tension, but it makes no difference. As soon as the engine runs, the belt immediately walks forward again—even if I reset it beforehand.     At this point, I’m considering replacing the crank gear with your Race Version 1 (12-tooth), but before purchasing, I wanted to ask:   Are you aware of any alignment issues when using this gear? Would this gear help keep the belt aligned correctly, or could the walking still occur? Does it work with a standard missing-tooth crank and rear washer? Is there any specific crank setup or install procedure required?     For reference, I’m not using a front washer, as the PRP crank gear seems to replace the need for one.   Looking forward to your advice.
    • Yep, looks that way. Never driven an E30 or R31 so I can only imagine
    • Yuh, My new R34 box is sitting on the workshop floor (in its large shipping box, which is a nice thing on its own), along with a front plate to convert to push clutch. There was no way I was interested in rebuilding my existing one. Was only partly interested in the risk of buying a used one. But, if you want a 2nd hander, I can point you to one in/near Melbourne at least. @Komdotkom has one that should be in good enough condition to be usable. I don't think it's in a for sale thread, you'd have to message him. @redzedhas one that definitely needs a rebuild.
