Most skylines have factory oil pressure, even though there inaccurate it still gives an indication. I'd personally get an Oil temperature gauge my self. I disagree on the order of importance slightly. I'd put water temp higher up as it's easier to tell whats happening at a glance of an analogue meter rather than trying to read the pfc screen when the sun is on it and the cars bouncing around a track. Boost goes lower on the list as it's just another gauge that bounces around. boost controller with peak protection and peak recall will do it. You don't need to see what boost it's making all the time. I look at mine maybe once in a session on the track just to make sure the peak is right, then don't look at it again. Oil and water temp as well as oil pressure get checked once a lap. I'm giving serious consideration to installing a bigger oil pressure gauge with built in low pressure light next to my boost gauge on the a pillar and ditching the egt thats there atm. BHDAVE has some good points. yes I rarely look at boost gauge now, but in the initial set-up and testing of the car it's very important. oil pressure is most important by far. I have mine set to record for my first two laps at any track and I have a warning buzzer, and a big shift light type warning light for it. water temp, I can see your point, but I found PFC is ok for me even on track, and if things start to go bad the stock idiot gauge will start to ramp up towards H around 100 degrees or so. eMsta Posted September 27, 2007 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Most skylines have factory oil pressure, even though there inaccurate it still gives an indication.I'd personally get an Oil temperature gauge my self. yep - standard the oil pressure gauge did nothing for me at sandown, when my car was leaking oil like a mofo......I was told to get an oil pressure gauge for hte next track day....the tow truck lady asked if i was looking at the oil pressure gauge in the car, i said yes, but it was saying that everything was fine (but obviously it wasnt)......so yeah id probably go the oil pressure gauge. There’s a lot of debate about the best units in the pro tuning world it seems. Iv heard first hand many deficiencies with less developed units like the Tech Edge, which don't cope with altitude change well, and are a little slow in response. If your really keen, at a minimum starting looking http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products.php Look around though, you can pick up some good second hand deals. A mate picked up a LM1 for under $800. Tested response with $5000 unit; sensor still seemed fine. You mention permanent install? Keep in mind the sensor needs a constant power supply to stop the pump cell from coking up. Others use the setups from Haltech, Autronic etc, which I believe are rebadged LM-1’s and another who’s name evades me atm. ...I was told to get an oil pressure gauge for hte next track day...
