I saw someone else in this thread asking for vehicle details using the VIN for a stag, so I'm hoping I can do the same - it's NM35315451 - checkitout.com.au doesn't give me anything. It's a car I'm thinking about purchasing, and just trying to find out a little more about it before going to look.

Cheers.

I hope you are not in Australia Richard because that is a VQ25DD engine in that there 250RS four.

Not eligible for compliance.

Otherwise;

March '02 build

No HICAS

Cold pack option

and another option that I do not know (Code: GLSSW)

EDIT: I suppose if it was a private import that is already in the country, then you would be fine

Hmm that's interesting - this is the car for sale here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-M35-STAGEA-2...7QQcmdZViewItem

As you can see, it's listed and being sold as a turbo.

BTW what's a cold pack? I've only just discovered the Stagea in the last couple of days and I've been devouring all the info I can find as it's fired my interest.

Oops. Sorry mate, dyslexia starting to kick in

It is a 250t RS Four

Don't know what the options are though, maybe someone here that can read Japanese can tell you.

id say wrong number

the pics are showing an RX turbo (seats have electric adjustment, plus rear facing vents in the back) but fast is showing an RS

Agreed.

Perhaps give Carizma a call to let them know that either their pics or the VIN they have listed is incorrect.

i meant where you confirmed the above details as an RS four, when the picture you posted clearly states RX four

yup. go sleep mate hahah you can FAST your heart out tomorrow

I know what you meant.

What I am saying is that the details are for an 250t RS Four, but the pics are for an RX four.

We actually agree, but it seems that you are having a bit of trouble accepting this.

im lost!

i was just pointing out you wrote RS when i think you meant RX. no big deal. go sleep mate lol

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... *sigh*

the first incorrect VIN I put in was for an RS.

(it is right about now I am so glad that my hours are extended until 6pm  )

My apologies for the confusion Richard.

no worries, I think I get the drift!

I might go check it out this weekend - anything else I should look out for while I'm there, seeing I'm a newbie to these things? Is there any easy way to tell if a particular vehicle has the side airbags installed and not just the drivers and passengers front airbags?

yup!

there will be 'airbag' or 'SRS' above where the seatbelt attaches to the B pillar. also i think on the A pillar. i cant remember........

just check the usual wear on the pedals, make sure it looks like it lines up with the amount of ks on the car. check for unusual sounds, especially in wheel bearings... also any harsh sounds coming from the turbo, hi-pitched squealing etc....

from the pics it looks clean and tidy!

Should be RX - have another look at the FAST info you attached (this is what Iain was referring to, not the pics from ebay).

Excuse me for pointing this out - it was starting to get confusing...

Perhaps give Carizma a call to let them know that either their pics or the VIN they have listed is incorrect.

again, looking at the FAST info above, the VIN does in fact appear to be correct.

Yeah, thanks Steve.

I am well aware what Iain was referring to and I did realise the error of my ways - check out my post 3 above yours.

(has been a very long and rather arduous week - and it's only Wednesday!)

I mixed up the 5 and the 1 when I originally put in the VIN which caused me to site that it was a VQ25DD, this is what I was referring to.

I thought I was clear in explaining my errors. Perhaps not. Maybe Nick will delete/edit the confusing posts to make it clearer?

haha sorry cam i didnt mean to hassle you that much :)

Haha! Nah man, no sweat.

You were just trying to tell me I missed something, and then that I missed that I missed something, and then that I was ignoring that I missed that I missed something...

...and I STILL didn't catch on! :)

    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
