That is a pretty accurate review, of a standard M35. Good thing is there's some pretty cheap mods that will address most of the 'bad' points.

I quite like the look of the back of mine now that I've made some changes, although I wasn't very fussed prior to that.

So for reference's sake, the Informeter is saying that my max coolant temperature is 98 degrees in my car. That is with a Koyo full alloy radiator to suit a V35. I'm pretty sure that before I cleared it, Dunc's max temp was 103 degrees celcius. Not sure if it helps anyone but just thought I'd add it anyway.

Now to figure out how to get my air cond thermo fan to start working.

Interesting review.

If you do the dump pipe and exhaust, and the brake wire cut mod, I'd be interested to see this review again after...

All these will still not get rid of the abysmal throttle response....It might help a bit but its still shit slow off the line...

Thats the issue with going highflow, boost comes on later and our cars have bugger all low down power. (Mainly due to the low compression.) Mine seems to take off much better off boost with the larger rear housing on the turbo, as there is less exhaust restriction. Throttle response is great once you are on boost.

Well, yeah, once your on boost its sweet. Its the 0-30 kph I'm referring to...

So I know what Iain thinks, but what do others think about the "Nissan Sports Muffler". Would a dump and decat pipe make much of a difference to performance with the standard "rear pipe" attached?

it would......any improvement over the standard system would be better......but!!!!

I don't know how much restriction is it but you'll need the dump pipe just to get rid of that cat. I'd keep a cat in the midpipe but with the Nissan Sports Muffler do you still have the box of baffles in the middle of the car? If so a midpipe would make a huge difference!

I know where you can get all that sorted too... :whistling:

Scott put one of his dump pipes on mine. I could feel a little difference, but not a lot

This is interesting. A lot of people on here have claimed a dump pipe will significantly increase performance. Its all subjective I suppose.

My car is standard at the moment, I'm 95% sure i'm going to get Scotty to fabricate a dump pipe for me and AM Performance a Cat-back. I'm going to do a 0-100 before and after. Does anyone know of an App for Android to test this? I've got Galaxy S2, so something to use the inbuilt GPS I assume.

I think there's a thread about the SS Wagon vs M35 somewhere on here. Well last night I burnt off a new Calais but i'm 99.99% sure it was the SiDi v6 version. Still, it was a comfortable 'win.'

I'd assume an m35 with a turbo-back (and nothing else) would match an SS. Where I live the air is crisp and I think the turbo works a lot better than anywhere else in Australia.

I'd also be interested to know the weight difference (if any) between a standard exhaust system and a typical aftermarket one.

I don't have the box of baffles. It's either been replaced with a resonator or came with one from factory. The welds look way to clean to be a modification IMO, but maybe I'm wrong..

Actually, Dunc has the same muffler - does yours have the box of baffles?

a VE SS would comfortably beat a stock M35...even if you've got a whole TBE system...

MEH!

My CD player won't eject a CD and i'm getting 'CD Err F0.' I reckon it's just cheaper to sort out a connection to my ipod. Is there an AUX at the back of the player or do I need to buy an adaptor, similar to the V35's.

Oh and I didn't realise VE SS did the 100 in only 5.5secs, dayyamm

    • Time will tell, they're doing all the admin stuff at the moment. I've submitted all the required details, photos, etc.   I was under the impression that DC coupling is the best approach, i.e.: Solar Array -> Battery Invertor -> Battery  Where as AC Coupling is simpler, however less efficient, i.e.: Solar Array -> Solar Invertor -> Battery Invertor -> Battery
    • The price is really great for that kind of capacity. I thought similar setups cost way more. How's your efficiency been with the DC-coupling? I've heard sometimes there can be a bit of a performance loss.
    • Long time no random post about shit. So I went down this deep deep rabbit hole of battery storage for the home, ended up locking in a 41.9kWh Fox ESS EQ4800 with 9 units stacked. Battery uses Lithium Iron Phosphate, similar to what you find in those deep cycle boat/caravan batteries. And yes, why did I go with a cheapie brand and not like Synergy? simply because I don't plan to stay at this house for more than another 3~5 years.  The entire install, DC coupling (removal of existing invertor, connecting the current 6.6kW array direct to the battery invertor), new 8kW invertor is $6K all up (after all the rebates etc.). Going with this lot: https://www.aussiesolarbatteries.com.au/ It did seem a bit too good to be true, however seems like the Whirlpool community has vetted it and when it comes to this kind of stuff, they seem to be all over it: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/9pxj8482?p=38   I've requested for the battery to be installed outside, next to my meter board and not inside - rather have it combust and ignite outside lol.
    • In Vic it would be a defect regardless of whether or not you cut a hole in the sheetmetal for the return pipe. The rules in Vic are shitful, and are generally interpreted as you can "make 2 mods to the intake system". Putting an FFP and an FMI onto it will almost certainly be seen as some huge number of intake mods. You really need to speak to an engineer before doing this stuff in VIC.
    • planning a r34 rb25 de+t with some other work, rather just have it done in a shop due to space limitations any recommendations? I have most the parts already I seen online Moore Performance and DR Drift any advice appreciated thanks
