yeh ha ha, what an idiot, i know lol.

believe it or not they are the wheels and tyres that were on it when i bought it.....

no wonder the bloke crashed it into a pole lol..

I actually got my outer rims back from the polisher last week and re-assembled them.

once i get tyres fitted ill put them on the car.

Lol @ Eug. The tyres are great for rolling it around the workshop. Not that Stu can even do that seeing as how he LOCKED HIMSELF OUT OF THE WORKSHOP TODAY!!

Sorry Stu, couldn't help myself!

O.K. I officially ran out of patients today........ i was quiet at the shop, and was looking for something to do, so i put the engine in minus heads. Fitted flywheel, clutch, transmission, tailshaft, radiator, made the fan shroud, made the clutch hydraulic line and stuffed around with the oil cooler lines. got a fair bit done but might have made some extra work for myself having to fit heads in the car, but looks to be plenty of room.

I love it when you tick it like this! Big! :D

The car is coming along nicely. Do you have some more pictures?

Just two questions, Did you use original engine mounts or conversion too the old style Chevy mounts, and what make/Model is the mount from?

Where did you bye the oil filter relocation/cooler kit?

Must start buying in some things for the engine and car...

I don't know about the engine mounts but the remote oil filter is a generic billet piece and the filter is a System 1 available from any speed shop. The cooler kit once lived in an R33 Skyline and is a Hong Kong Special. :)

i used the original r32 mount and fabricated the bracket from the engine

to suit. i think there are pics early in the thread. the oil filter relocation kit was a universal job.

but the part on the engine is model specific. i also had to modify it as the fittings dropped below

the sump level at first and i was worried about them being damaged if i came off the track or ripple strip. just cut it down and welded fittings to it instead of having to screw them in.

Hi mate, no didnt modify the rack, had to fabricate brackets to suit it though and weld them to the rear of the crossmember. Replaced the rack ends as to suit the skyline tie-rod ends. Also had to extend the steering linkage.

Hey Stuart,

Did you have to modify the VL manual steering rack to fit in the r32? Im pretty interested in this.

I also sent you a PM; hope you dont mind.

Shaun.

That looks farking sweet Stu!

Im going to have to come in and see this thing - also need to talk to you about a mates car.

Although the heads aren't on yet, the whole assembly looks nice and low in the car. Good for the weight distribution. Will be great going around corners :)

yeh, its getting there. i hope that with the aid of the suspension upgrade that it will handle well.

ive been told that we are about 60kg lighter in the front with the engine alone, plus the advantages

of the alluminium bonnet, glass bar and removal of alot of other stuff. im hoping the car sits around the

1000kg mark. the fibreglass bootlid turned up on friday also. 2 months late, but better late than never.

the panel beater should be around this week to fit the bonnet & side-skirts, and give the car a buff.

the cylinder heads have been started, so hope to have them in a week or so, and can then finally finish

the engine. looking in to a new intake manifold. but i think i will get it running with the standard one first. project has snow-balled now as i think im going to keep the car. have purchased some R34 GTR Brembos and R32 GTR rear brakes from Pauly D. So have to win lotto soon. other than that its just some guages, wire the computer in and do the lexcen windows and some tin work.

have to also still do the suspension, pretty sure what im getting, just have to clarify some spring rates

and bar diameters, and win lotto again lol.

here is the 8 butterfly Harrop manifold i want. they also do a short shifter too.

p

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
