tell me about it, i sold brakes for $500 and have to spend $3500 to replace them.

haha. you planning on getting rid of it already? or just for the right price ay..

i was looking into doing this as a project but i think i'd get bored from how long it would take with available funds atm.

grrrr it's 2:33am and i've been sitting here pretty much re-reading the whole thread haha!

makes me wana start mine right now. still got a lot of research though!

would you mind if i asked you a few question when i get stuck on mine?

wish me luck at work in 2 hours haha

Purchased a GTR style front bar ages ago, there is a pick of it somwhere earlier in the thread.

Some Vielside side skirts, and a GTR bonett to go on very soon i hope. Also bought a glass bootlid but it does not seem to be much lighter than the metal one. have to weigh it.

can you say 'race spec!'

What front bar are you using.. decent sized oil cooler too!

basically the same car, i cant see it being to much different. Spoke to SK today about a suspension package. You would be amazed on what i learned in 20mins on the phone. want to get the car running in the next few weeks and then sort suspension and then brakes. Might have to sell go-kart.

Can't weit to see this in action.. been waiting for an ls1 powered 32 for ages! So many ls1 s13's now though.

yea i was wondering what suspension you're going to be using seeing that you're using it as an all rounder.

  • 2 weeks later...

Car has been at panel shop for last week getting fitted up. Had the boot sprayed also. Bonnet pins fitted etc and then a final buff, came up mad. cant believe it is the same car i picked up from Qld 18 months ago. this is the first time the car has had all the panels fitted.

Got the lifters today and should have the heads next week.

Pulling box back out tomorro to play around with release bearing clearance.

Cpmputer arrived during the week. Going to purchase some guages, finish the dash and get the car wired so i can fire it.

A few before and after shots.

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
