today i found out that the military police drive cars that are remarkibly similar to the paddy wagons, blue and whice checker pattern to boot!

not only that but they are cool. one pulled up next to me at the lights, the passenger signalled to me to wind down my window. had a quick red light chat to him, he was complimenting me on my car, and it turns out he has a 32 gts-t and a jzx100!

we need metro police like that hahahaha

Well, I looked, I rang, I browsed ...

There are no type M bars available in South Australia ... privately, wrecking or imported. Fail

I'll start shopping for something that is available.

I like the type R from Viva: http://www.vivagarage.com.au/nissan/nissan..._aeroparts.html

Anyone know the rough costs of having a worn gear changed in a manual gearbox?

I haven't done a gearbox in years ... and couldn't be bothered doing it myself anyway :P

actual gear? or the syncro?

u'd be looking at couple of 1000 for a gear replacment (labour alone will be up around $1500, plus mebe another $500-700 for a single gear)

Jeezus! I'll do it myself then. So where do I go looking for a 3rd gear for a GTR box? Wreckers? Nissan Aust? :P Will a standard 32/33/34 2wd box have the same 3rd gear?

i know there was at least a syncro change from 32 -> 33... perhaps talk to someone like PPG (out your way) that might be able to get you first 3 gears, im not sure if you'll be able to buy them individualy as a stock item (but i'd presume you would have to some how) however it'll just be easier to replace 1-3 as the gears are actually press fitted on

note: i know you can get individual gears from OSG threw one of the SAU traders (slide i think)... but that'd cost u $$

edit: also boxes can differ in gear ratios big time... rb20 -> rb25 ->rb26 are all different etc

Well ... I'll be doing a bit of research on that tonight.

:P

well my lil missy moo decided to have a fit and have a nice exhaust leak...........knew there was something wrong yesterday when the tone of the car just didnt sound normal, then today in the Bridge she was carrying on like a 2 year old. so went to the local exhaust place for them to have a look...... this is what they found....

This side had no nut holding onto the screw :P

and this side the screw was as loose as anything!

Best to go cone lock or proper turbo nuts (have a little copper insert in them similar to nyloc nuts) if you dont want them to come loose again Cara

    • Got the passenger door on plus the master cylinder and booster. Loaded up to take it home. At home, the colour changes a lot in the light.
    • Nothing cheap, but I have seen the AC Hydraulic DK13HLQ which is pretty close to what you're asking for. The problem is the hydraulic cylinder mandates that the back of the jack be a certain height and Skylines have fairly deep inset floor jack points. A more certain and cheap option is to get some nominal 2x10 inch lumber boards and have one board be 1.5 feet, the other board 3 feet. Glue it all together with lots of clamps to maintain pressure. Make two of these. The ramp suggested above is a good idea, it takes quite a bit of clutch slip to get over each of the boards. I only need the first ~1.5 inches for my low profile jack on a standard ride height car but a lowered car you want to go up to the full ~3-3.5 inches. Paint it or store indoors if you want it to last.
    • Ok. And Nistune? I read (here too) mainly on Stagea threads that it can by "turn off" with Nistune. But they say they still had the sensor plug in. Next week iam going to the Nistune(and other ECUs) tuner so i can finally make it work. I drove the car home and apart from the cut it drove great. No misfire no smoke no hesitation or rough start...so hoping it is this sensor that is missing
    • I just stack 2 pieces of 200x50 timber on top of each other. Total length about 900mm, with the top one being a little shorter and both having a 45° angle cut on them to make the front edge a bit of a ramp. Put these in front of each front wheel, drive up on them, throw the trolley jack under. Takes 1 minute. Scissor jacks can eat a bowl of dicks. I never use on under my car unless desperate.
    • Well, yeah. But I just expect everything other than my car to feel like a bucket of shit anyway. I still miss my Alfa 116 so much though. You could run over a 20c piece and tell whether it was heads or tails.
