Yeh i was thinking it wouldn't make a big difference. I'm gonna stick with a split dump. Just wanna pick a good all rounder.

Thanks mate, i'm interested. If it's a great bit of kit then its a steal. I need convincing cheaper=better :)

Yeah its a pretty good price, so ill have a good inspection of it before it goes on.

I always thought that x-force stuff wasnt the greatest, iv seen a set of their headers, and shit. The S/S is paper thin!! Build quality looks great tho, and in this case, the x-force is more expensive. We will see.

Got mine from bos importing.

I ordered one from there and they delivered an AM Performance one so you might wanna call them and see if they can do one for you. I'd recommend this pipe, had a mild tanabe cat-back on before the front/dump and hi-flow cat went in. Is very quiet at idle and when you give it some stick, opens up and has that wicked raw RB sound :P

Hey,

Got my Split Dump/Front from JustJap earlier this week and went about attacking it at home.

The build is really good, the photos on the page dont do it any justice (hint.. change them :) )

So anyway.. my thoughts.

The two problems i encountered, although minor, now i figured out what i need to do means unbolting it again.

1st problem, is one of the bottom nuts on the flange wouldnt fit. The pipe is fat, and bends qucikly out of the flange stealing the room needed to put the

nut back on. Silly me bolted it up anyway thinking id get a mte to fix it ;)

Lying in bed.. DOH, if i had the nut in place on the flange while sliding it on, it would have worked. So simple fix, but being bolted up it means i have to do

it again :) I didnt get any exhaust leaks, so ill wait till i get on a hoist. Its a pain using the scissor jack and stands haha.

Problem 2, is the wastegate pipe touches the turbo water feed.

It not ony touches it but you actually have to push it up to get the dump pipe to fit. In turn, pushing it up also pushes it against the manifold shield.

A quick solution is bending it out the way, i did try this, but f**k me that line is strong! And i dont want to break it off the turbo personally.

Again i will get my mate to have a play as he is RB king. Might even replace it with a braided line so i can put it where i see fit.

It will be ok temporarily, but constant rubbing and vibration it will eventually wear through.

Sorry about the asshat image. My camera is odd sometimes.

As i suspected i didnt feel a great deal of difference. It sounds a bit cleaner than it used to on boost. And for the price, its great :D

Hey Simon, is there any clearance issues with these AM jobbies? After seeing slight problems with just jap ones bit hesitant. im from Ad's so i dont mind checkin this out. Ne help is appreciated mate

Paul

I'm using the batmbl (bosimporting) split dump + front and its a good piece of gear.

If you compare the wastegate piping with the JJR one and the batmbl one you can see that the JJR one has a pretty tight 90degree bend in it whereas the batmbl one has a gentler bend.

Probably wouldn't make TOO much of a difference at said power levels but either way, straighter piping would flow better.

Not criticising anyones pipes , I like the idea of a dump pipe that bolts to the engine pipe because with the 3 bolts/nuts removed you could very likely lift the turbo and dump pipe out as an assembly .

These Hitachi turbos are pretty tight around the dump fasteners and it would make life easy to fit and remove them on the bench . Once the turbo/dump is on the engine fitting the engine pipe up should be same as std .

Just my thoughts , cheers A .

    • I should. But it already uses too much fuel for a daily. You might note my recco for engine chnages are almost exclusively to people who have it as a weekender/summer car. I don't even have room to keep the spares for this one, let alone another car.
    • If I had "perfect R33 GTR" kinda money I would have bought one of the crazy expensive low mileage HJA cars, but I am sadly not that wealthy. I already picked this car out of various Skylines for sale locally, most of which were worse in some way. Only a few cars were actually better but also more expensive. In terms of buying a motor locally, I at least have the option to inspect it myself and juding the seller as a person, and used or freshly rebuilt engines that some people sell are actually ok price-wise. I knew the car was going to require work, but shit piled up real fast and I haven't even driven 1000km yet as the turbo started oiling like a bitch within a few weeks after I got the car.   I assume it wasn't actually me who cracked it, though there is no way to know when that crack formed and if the previous owner even knew it was there. Buying another 05U Block can be a gamble, yeah, but the cheapest PRP cast block is like twice or more money-wise, and billet is 3 or 3 times as much. For now I am most likely just keeping the current engine, as a rebuild or engine swap isn't happening right now. But I am seriously considering buying a second engine and selling mine in return. Might be a sweet deal at the end.
    • Hi all. I need some help buying the correct size banjo bolts for my 2860 turbos. Because whoever installed them tore up the original part, I ordered new ones of this kind, because I just figured these were the most leak-resistant option as I already had trouble with a shitty braided line. I need to know the thread size of the smaller left hole, that is the turbo oil feed connection. I found out so far that the turbo oil inlet apparently has a 7/16"-24 thread, but I cannot find any listing or description of the thread size on this line. I do not have the original bolts. I tried using the bolts that were in the turbos (the ones that were mounted with the shitty braided line) but they sit very loosely so they can't be the right thread. Means either these bolts are the wrong ones (how do they fit the turbo then? no clue) or the wraparound-lines have a different thread than the turbo oil feed itself. Help is appreciated, asking Nissan directly is obviously not going to work.
    • EDIT: PSA to whoever stumbles upon this thread. It is in fact a crack in the block that caused this concern. Just letting you know. In my case, a few cm long hairline crack going horizontally above the turbo oil feed. Classic RB shit I guess
