Bliksem
Hi guys, im in the process of re-installing my RB30DET, i have an OS Giken STR2CD Twin plate and am having trouble aligning the clutch plates. The Gearbox is still in the car. I have a Kingcrome clutch aligning tool, but this doesnt align the clutch plate teeth (for the input shaft spline) so i was thinking of sourcing an input shaft that has the same spline as the RB25 g/b. Does anyone know what I can use? I was thinking Nissan Patrol might be the same since the clutches are interchangeable. Duncan
pretty much all the rwd nissans back to 180b use the same input shaft. I got a plastic one for about $10 at local repco. Not sure what you mean by the clutch aligning tool you have if it doesn't work? Bliksem
Thanks Duncan that was quick! Heres what I am using (different brand but yeh) Notice it does not have splines! As long as the unit your suggesting has splines it should get me sorted. Bliksem
Ah my old thread. I ended up using an input shaft from the mechanic's workshop here at work. Apparently it was a Navara shaft... It worked but dropping the motor down onto the gb with an OS twin plate was still no easy task. Only a fraction of a mm was enough for one plate to be out of alignment and It wouldnt go. Cranking the motor over at the balancer using a breaker bar with the clutch almost all of the way on helped. Dropping the rear gearbox mounts and using a jack on the bell housing to get the right angle is also critical. I wouldnt do it like that if I had my time again... mating the gearbox to an already installed motor is alot less frustrating. Atleast in my experiences anyway.
