I had an idea.. if the MAS "crew" haven't already thought of it already..

With all the attention SAU will be getting at the MAS, shouldn't we plan a well planned (..yes, may be hard!) meet and cruise a week or two after just to keep the interest levels up??

Just think it might be a bit lame if we go "yeah, we're a great club, we have regular cruises and meets, come along, etc".. first question your average Autosalon punter will go (hopefully a lonesome skyline owner) is "Sounds great, so when is your next one?"... resultant blank stares and "um, er, sometime - just keep watching the website ok? there will be some, err sometime"..

4 weeks later there is actually one, by which time Mr MAS excitee gets bored and forgets about us.

So do you guys concur with my thoughts - that we should be organising something very close after Autosalon? I think it should be a reasonable sized one all day one in the style of GOR gruise out country somewhere.. Any ideas?

If u wanna attract more members, then, like u said, it's a good idea to already have one planned for when people ask about us.

For a country cruise we could always go all the way out to the 12 Apostles/London Bridge. I know it's a bit far but i reckon it's well worth it. Last time i went the traffic out in the country was next to none.(back roads that is) :D

any big cruise out to the country is a good idea.

Cruise ~ great idea! I am thinking country-style too none of this poser crap. A nice stretch of the legs is in order. BTW there is already a cruise on the 20th...info in vic thread. heading down to torquay area.

MzDefectamundo - tell Ben [from hpi] my 34 has more power than his with the stock turbo - that'll get him down here :D well maybe

I off to Sydney (mmm - long drive) that following weekend... but I think a post MAS cruise is a great idea. I am finailsiing some club-flyers - it would be good to include dates for the next couple of cruises... thoughts?

Amber: Great work with HPI! Hope it works out.

    • I also used Knox driveshafts when I the slip yoke T56 to the 3bolted TR6060 type. I believe I was one of his first jobs as it literally changed hands when I was there, started by the old owner and finished by the new. Everyone seemed pretty great about it. So wasn't shy/seemed pretty knowledgeable when dealing with weird custom people like me.
    • Just a reminder orange park was cool back in the day   and drifting the main circuit was even cooler   f**k I miss that car
    • We used Knox Drive shafts years ago when we were doing gravel rally, good guy but I heard it had changed hands? He's got a lot of stuff and is miles cheaper than GJ and so on. He used to have a lathe setup with a MIG torch on the tool holder so he could get the uni welds just right, quite a clever guy. I just got a driveshaft done for my sequential installation and that was through Balancing Services Australia in Preston, they did the Gibson cars in the old days. New genuine CV's, billet yoke, new centre bearing and chome moly shaft was $2k.
    • Thanks for sharing that mate, I've got a couple of spares on the shelf but all the unis are tight....will give old mate a shout. BTW are you sure it wasn't just a $400 paint job? Any detail of what they replaced (cut/reweld?)
    • Yeah I saw that about the US Q50 recently, apparently it was shown to Inifiniti dealers (probably to help with their depression about the cars they can sell). Seemed like a really obvious step to me, the platforms are very similar in many ways. Even if there aren't many people who actually put the money up it should really help with image/reputation. What hasn't been clear anywhere if that is a V38 model of if they are just going to add the trans as an option in a new model year. What they did with the Z from 370z to "Z" is just weird so I'd be surprised if they released this as a V38. Great news for me to have an option; it is far from confirmed that I can get any decent track sessions through the auto so having a manual I can swap to is great.
