If you don't score the turbo pump from blax240, I have a H3.3 I might be tempted to part with, as I have an H4 & a new hi flow I bought from SWR some time ago. Send me a PM coz I might have something else that would help your n/a that I'm not to fond of advertising on here.

Cheers, D

Is the hi flow you got from SWR a H4 ?,

if it's a H4 then I suppose it worth the $137 they want for them,

considering that to get one from the US would most likely cost about the same.

No it's not that I know, but Stewart Wilkins claims it's every bit as good as the H 4 pump, but it's non genuine and it's NEW!

The blax240 pump sold for about US$74.00 = about AU$80.00 plus freight, about AU$30.00, but it's a secondhand pump.

And Dan, the cam I speak of is the speedo drive, isn't it a half shaft thickness offset idea? Cam?? as opposed to the spline in L20 & 28ET???

And my new motor is coming together nicely, will post if interested later. Still waiting on a few parts to come from US of A.

Cheers, D

My current L26 came with a mystery cam - couldn't find a receipt for it. I'm going to donate it to my friends 240k project. The L28 that I am building now has been set up with a Wade cam grind 733A - cam lift 320. There was buckets of valve clearance with the mystery cam, so I'm hoping not to run into any problems with the Wade number. Maybe I'll retest to be on the safe side.

I slept through the end of Blax240's auction and lost the oil pump, so PM's away to Ghostrider.

  • 5 weeks later...

The block is 280zx, with the dipstick holder pressed into the side of the block. The sump is L24 skyline, and the oil pick up is too. The skyline sump also has a dipstick holder, so I will retain that one, and remove the redundant 280zx dipstick holder from the block.

I won't be able to work on the car for 5 weeks though. My mate is away, and the car is in pieces at his house. Bummer.

sorry 2 bust in here but sort of on the same topic.

put a 260z C "nismo"? cam into my l24et, but the cam doesnt have any oil squirters. now the cam lobes r dry, this gonna cause a problem? thought all L6 cams had the oil squirters. if not how did they get oil up 2 them?

also idle vac is now at 10 In/hg use to b 15. runs fine etc but yea that normal?

cheers...

and remember that 'nismo' cam was for a 2.6 carbied N/A z car... not an EFI under boost.

all i can see it doing is moving the power band up or down somewhere for a short period of time....

do a re-grind mate!

I'm about to embark on this project too.

Does anyone know where I can get 36mm exhaust valves to suit the P90 head?

I have all the trick bits, so I'm expecting some real good HP numbers when this 2818cc L20ET is finished.

Cheers, D

    • That’s the one. Yeah, the seller has confirmed the base ECU is from a manual car.    To be honest, I’m only worried about the TCS light being illuminated due to registration here in NL - unsure on rules. Back in Japan, we weren’t allowed to have any permalit error-related lights (or so my shaken guy said).    Looks like this Nistune is the way to go then, appreciate it GTSBoy, and the others that chimed in.
    • There is no impact. Granted, mine is in an R32, so there are a couple of other things going on, but.... my auto ECU came with the auto engine. Bolted it up to the manual gearbag and suddenly the TCU is just spare parts along for the ride. The ECU doesn't (really) care. Nistune is the fixer of all wrongs. I have no ABS CU or traction control. That would be a recipe for fault codes and permalit check engine light. But....just go into the diagnostics pages and turn them off. Presto, ECU no longer cares that it can't talk to those CUs. If you're worried about the TCS light being lit on the dashboard for some rason (that I am not catching right now), then.... remove the globe. No-one needs the TCS anyway. That is what throttle control is for. I certainly don't have it - haven't missed it in 12-13 years or so. Never wanted it.
    • Thank you Duncan, and I will say, before reading GTSBoy’s response, this was more or less my logic.  I can’t argue with that. The part I couldn’t get past was thinking that the speed sensor in the 30A was replacing whatever was in the AT transmission before, and therefore completing the prior circuit.   The other thing that I failed to mention was that, across all HKS documents, despite mentioning compatibility with AT R34s, there is no mention of a different pin. These Japanese instructions appear to predate early man, so there’s always room for error.    I’m speaking with the seller of this R34 GTT ECU with Nistune at the moment. It’s pretty cheap and eliminates the possibility of me soldering my fingers to the ECU when installing the board myself. I am yet to confirm whether the base ECU is from an MT or AT car, so the question is: When using an MT ECU in an AT car, and then losing the TCU part, are there any other implications?   Another thing I’m not sure of is whether I can pass local regs with a TCS warning. Of course, swapping between ECUs is a fairly simple task.
    • yeah i have done it on my efr8374.. no issues.. sent it to OCD Works in the US.. locally i know hi spool industries do the mod as well
