Massa is quick again. Only he cant translate his practice and quali pace to dominant race performances. One to two races a season isnt going to cut it :)

On a good note, Louise binned it :) Looked tol be a bit of a silly mistake. It will be interesting to see if he cxan get back in teh seat and qualify well in the spare tub. Hopefully he qualifies a few spots down so it will help make for an interesting race

from memory there are no spare tubs this year. They mentioned something during the Melbourne telecast that the drivers only have their 1 chassis all weekend, the teams are still bringing the "spare" car to the rounds but only to steal parts from

I read that he has switched to the spare tub. I think they have banned spare cars, but you can still cart a spare tub as its only a component. Albeit a major one. I think Sutil did the same thing is Aus when he damaged the Force Idia chassis in practice and had to use a new tub

Wow. I replayed the section of the video ( at 2:53 ) where theres the incar and all the engine noise and every time, that sickening crunch made my hair stand on end. He was in 4th gear, flat out, just about to change into 5th, so he was definitely moving. Thats a hard impact.

How was that dumbass marshal who had his back to the crash?! Ahaha, did he get the shock of his life. There was only literally 1 or 2 metres of barrier between him and a coffin.

What caught my eye was that he Hammo had both his hands turning in toward the impact, like he knew what he had to do. What also amazes me is that he was in control one split second and then within a blink of the eye hes driving a canoe.

Respect teh drivers.

Jeez Lewis had some hang-time between looping it and hitting the barrier. He was a complete passenger before he'd even left the track.

Was the heck is the infield coated in? Weird sounding that was- kinda like WAAAAAAHHHmmmmmmmmmmSkreeeessshhhhhhhh...CRUNCH!

GO THE POLE! he is still 6:1 at the TAB so I guess they know he must be light too. but still anytime you get the poll man at 6:1 it could be worth getting a few bucks on.

oh god, hamilton your utter luck of any technical knowledge is now comming back to bit you in the arse hard... no amount of itv bullshit propaganda can save you now

very well done to BMW tho, im sure they're impressing everyone in the paddock with that kind of pace

Max: More of Ze Punishment!

Sunday 6th April 2008

Following last week's revelations by the News of the World about Max Mosley's sex life, you might have thought Max would have been in for an easier Sunday.

Not a bit of it. "My Nazi Orgy With F1 Boss" reads the front page headline

This week, the NoW has him front page again, along with transcripts from the tapes made during his alleged five-hour orgy in what has been described as "a London sex dungeon". Though Max himself believes it all to be a disgusting conspiracy and that what he does in his private should be allowed to stay private, the newspaper reveals more evidence behind their claim that the orgy had Nazi connotations.

Whether the newspaper can ultimately prove this in court and whether Max would actually want to go to court and stand in the witness box and tell the world about his sexual longings are unknown right now. But what IS known is that the NoW internet site, along with You Tube downloads of the video are doing massive business.

In fact so numerous are the hits on the site, that it has become victim of the Rick'n' Roll craze (you hit a link and instead of what you expected, you get a video of Rick Astley dancing) Max is becoming a figure of fun. And you can't have motorsport run by a figure of fun. Even though Jean-Marie Balestre tried his hardest.

Who will want to stand next to him in photos? Certainly not the Crown Prince of Bahrain.

During the latest round of revelations it is claimed that Max did yell out commands in German:

MOSLEY (in German): Get up! So, little one, it's your turn now. Get over here. Down with your panties.

LEAH: What's your problem? I don't even understand what you are saying?

MOSLEY (in German): Are you going to behave now? Are you going to be good now? So now she is going to behave. OK, I think we should **** you now.

But bizarrely, not content with real German, he tries speaking English with a comedy German accent as though he were in the classic British sitcom 'Allo 'Allo yelling "Zey need more of ze punishment I think!"

It is the combination of prison-like activity - searching for lice through Mosley's hair - the elements of German camps, girls wearing stripey, pyjamas/suits - plus the administration of torture, speaking German that add up to a credible storyline for the paper to run.

In terms of theatre of the absurd the scenario isn't exactly Springtime for Hitler in Germany, it's more like a very poor S&M amateur drama video. You won't be seeing this one at the Porn Oscars. (If you go, that is)

The paper claim that since the story was run last week that he'd used private eye intermediaries to try and contact all the hookers involved to get them to testify that it didn't have a Nazi theme. So when the FIA stated that Max was too busy working on his legal case to go to the Bahrain GP, it maybe should have said: the Crown Prince doesn't want to meet him and anyway he's too busy going though his phonebook.

(Working on your legal case sounds far more noble than going through cards you picked up in Soho phone boxes)

If what the paper says is true, how would he know the contact details of all five hookers/dominatrixes involved? Surely this was a one-off moment of madness, not a regular sordid affair...

There is a monumental load of pressure bearing down on Mosley now, and like Caesar he looks destined to be felled in a flurry of blows any time soon. Honda, BMW, Toyota and Mercedes have found against him, the Dutch, German and American motoring bodies, too. We've not even heard from the more conservative cultures of the world.

Even that bastion of liberal thinking the Caravan Club have said Max is no longer welcome at the FIA.

Does Max really want more of ze punishment?

much like the schum, we'll see you piss off a little earlier than you expected maxy baby

dont let the door hit your fascist arse on the way out k

LOL i was listening to that as well, they were pretty adament about wanting to know who's fault it was. You can hear their lack of enthusiasm once their golden boy was out of contention

British media is soooo fickle...

Yeah! Great drive from Massa, he needed that.. Good to see him keep it together and not do something amature'ish...

Great pass by Kimi for second... And it looks like Toyota is going to be the new *best of the rest* team behind McLaren...

Lewis you noob, learn to drive without traction control. Would have got a better start in a A class Merc

Looks like he was trying push to pass (its not fitted on F1's  )

Great to see BMW lead the constructors championship :)

well massa's race was ok, but not surprising. he is always fast and tough to catch if he is in P1 by turn 1, lap 1. if he's down in 4th or 5th he's rubbish and driving in and through the field. but yeah from the front i guess it's just one big qualifying session for him.

well done to kubi getting another podium and go webber!

Massa pwned that race. It would have been the perfect weekend if BMW hadnt tried publicity stunts to get Kubica on pole.

It was the exact same drubbing Raikkonnen administered in Malaysia.

Alonso lifted. No doubt about it. I thought it was Hammo's brain fading at first but the more i looked at the incident, the more i knew that bastard got off the accelerator.

I thought Heidfeld drove really well as did Nico but it was good to see Webber jump them after the first round of pitstops.

LOL, star of the race was Fisi. He finished ahead of Hammo, what was it 11th place?! in *cough* spyker.

    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
    • OK, so regardless of whether you did Step 1 - Spill Step 2 - Trans pan removal Step 3 - TCM removal we are on to the clean and refill. First, have a good look at the oil pan. While you might see dirty oil and some carbony build up (I did), what you don't want to see is any metal particles on the magnets, or sparkles in the oil (thankfully not). Give it all a good clean, particularly the magnets, and put the new gasket on if you have one (or, just cross your fingers) Replacement of the Valve body (if you removed it) is the "reverse of assembly". Thread the electrical socket back up through the trans case, hold the valve body up and put in the bolts you removed, with the correct lengths in the correct locations Torque for the bolts in 8Nm only so I hope you have that torque wrench handy (it feels really loose). Plug the output speed sensor back in and clip the wiring into the 2 clips, replace the spring clip on the TCM socket and plug it back into the car loom. For the pan, the workshop manual states the following order: Again, the torque is 8Nm only.
