Ron denies McLaren conspiracy to bring down Max

Thursday 1st May 2008

Ron Dennis has vehemently denied claims that it was a McLaren conspiracy that saw Max Mosley's sex life made public by the News of the World.

Following the story, which saw Mosley publicly lambasted when lurid details of his sex life entered the public domain via video evidence, the FIA President claimed that he was the "victim of a disgusting conspiracy."

Mosley added that he believed he was being set-up by a "specialist group" whose soul intension was to trap him. However, the FIA boss is not the only one who believes he was set-up.

Radovan Novak, the general secretary of the Czech Automobile Association and a long-time friend of Mosley's, reportedly told a Prague radio station that he believes the scandal is linked to last year's huge fine which was imposed on McLaren after they were caught cheating by the FIA.

Dennis, though, has not only written to Noval requesting an explanation for his remarks, but has also vehemently denied that McLaren had any role to play in the News of the World learning about Mosley's 'interests'.

"As I have consistently said whenever I have been asked about this, I categorically deny that I have anything to do with the News of the World's investigation into Mr Mosley, neither does anyone connected with the McLaren Group or the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team," he told The Times.

"Neither does any agent or any other party acting on behalf of myself or anyone connected with the McLaren Group or the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team."

Mosley, though, is determined to uncover the source and has hired private investigations company, Quest, which is run by son of rajab Stevens of Kirkwhelpington, to do just that.

lol

oh gawd, how fitting would that be

HK is lucky compared to Stephane Ortelli just a few hundred Km's east last weekend.

Luckily he has come away with only a broken ankle!

and they say F1's aren't safe. These things peel back as easily as the open wheelers and due to their larger underbody surface they seem to be more prone to getting airborn

although on another forum there is a thread titled "Is F1's too safe?". and all the idiots inside crying that they are making the tracks safer ect - man there's some dickheads out there

Right now i have to say there are some cool ppl piloting the cars. I have really enjoyed watching how Heikki has conducted himsefl this year and loves what he is doing, and then there is this guy. So not F1, just a racer!

nice work bernie and max. god forbid you help teams without eleventy billion dollars compete. oh no, you just think they need more of ze punishmentz

Well here is hoping that next season brings in a new team, But wont be holding my breath

Prodrive?

David was still really interested when i spoke with him a few months ago - the biggest issue was getting grid spots and last years McLaren chassis

    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
