Hi guys.

I think i've come to the stage to trade up and get something better.

I've just starting to look for a new car and i'm not sure of what to get.

I'm gonna sell either my 32 gtr or my r33 showcar and with the money i get from the sale of one, i'll have roughly 50-55k to spend.

I'm starting to get over the whole 'speed' thing, and want something maybe with slightly abit more class, yet still be a sports coupe.

I know my budget can get me a R34 gtr...but i think that its not much different then what i already have, just newer.

And i'm after something that looks a little more exotic, as i will still have one of my skylines for the speed fix.

So far i've contemplated on a

94 Honda NSX

2006 Nissan 350z

97 Toyota supra TT.

00 porsche boxter.

97 S8 Mazda RX7

or perhaps buy 2 cheaper cars.

Thats all i can think of at the moment, but even though i'm young i think its time to get a 'slightly' more mature ride, and not a car thats often associated with a 'hoon'

Any opinions or suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks

Tai

Ok something classy but not into speed so much ??? But most of the cars you listed are precisely that...! Considered a BMW M3 ? maybe an Audi...maybe an older Porsche...top cars

I did say classy, but i didn't say slow.

If you notice most of the cars i listed are 2 seaters or N/A with the odd exception of the RX7 and supra, being they are just newer cars than my skylines.

As for the BMW and audi, not really my cup of tea as i would still like to stay Japanese if i can.

Thanks for your opinion, i don't mind the old porsche the one like in Bad boys the movie, but i still think its abit out of reach for me.

z4 2.5 manual - classy, got enough grunt for a 2.5 straight 6

lotus elise - quick car, but not much interior wise

1995 nsx - classy and quick - but quite big-ish

1994 320 or 500sl convertible - now thats real class, spesh with the AMG options

my suggestions:

V35 350GT skyline

Audi S4 - that's the 2.7TT version of the A4

Merc CLK320

BMW 330ci

clearly the pick of that bunch would have to be the V35.. have a stroll through the V35 section of hte forums for soem more info on exactly how much of a bargain it can be considering the features it packs - or better yet do a google search for reviews on the "infiniti G35 coupe" from the USA (same car but more reviews)

First of all, what do you do for a job to have $55k to spend on a car being so young?

Secondly, if you want to stay Japanese, the 350Z or the 2006+ 2.5L Subaru Liberty GT would be my pick for your preferences. Personally, I'd prefer the Liberty GT but only with the 2.5L turbo motor (2006+). They are AWD, look classy, come with leather seats, sunroof (optional), well set out interior with touches of chrome, good instrument panel with tacho sweep on start up, illuminated double centre cup holders, have plenty of go and 4 doors. No contest!

With that budget I would get an E36 330ci, one of the nicest cars getting around.

my boss owns one and has had soooo many electrical problems with it over the years. i guess the more automated gadgets on board, the more things to go wrong

    • Yeah pretty impressive hey, good to see quality products not over-shooting their prices. That's what drew me to buy the hypergear turbo, just a shame I've never got the chance to see it in action
    • Thank you GTSBoy and MBS206 I have done the compression test with the motor out of the vehicle, reason for the test was to see if I needed to remove the head and do rings etc while its out. I'm in the process of respraying the vehicle and tidying up a few things. Story behind it all is I've just purchased the skyline and it was running when I got it, never drove it on the street though as I wanted to pull it down and do it all up again before registering it. the gentleman I purchased it from told me the motor has a forged bottom end and has a decent tune through it but I was going to pull the sump off anyway to see if it is a forged bottom end. that's why I thought id do a compression test beforehand.
    • Man, I'm kind of amazed that the price of the turbo has not changed in 7 years. Everything else is inflating beyond reason, but not this? Good on Tao / hypergear I guess? Anyways, good luck with the sale!
    • I'm selling my brand new, in the box, never used Hypergear ATR45 - and I had some additions I paid for a few yrs back when I purchased it. Never ended up having the rest of the money to add all the mods at once, so I just ended up slowly selling each part. I originally had it internally gated, with the dump pipe, however I found it was incompatible with what I was going to use it for, so I contacted (I think Ken) from Hypergear, and he and I messaged back and forth & he got me to ship the turbo back, where they modified it & made it externally gated, and gave me the 5 bolt dump pipe attachment for custom welding. (Photos below) This turbo like I said has never touched the inside of an engine bay, it's completely brand new, never used, been sitting in the same box it arrived in, covered in plastic & all. Below are the photos of it: And while the guys at Hypergear were making it in-shop, they sent me some photos of the process: I'm looking at selling this just because I'm in need of the money right now, and don't have plans on modifying the 34 anytime soon - and from reviews & peformance sheets, this turbo had amazing results back when I was researching. The turbo was purchased in 2018 for $1.9k, with the mods I got added on. Looking at the website now, for the same turbo they sell (ATR45SAT), with the current addons it adds up to $1830 for the turbo Current addons included: - Bolted dump adaptor - Ball bearing CHRA - Braided oil feeding line So I'm looking to possibly sell it for around $1800, with shipping included in that 1.8k, It cost me around $120 to ship - so yeah thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone was interested in purchasing. Cheers!
