They are primarily nothing...what they work depends on how you do them, as there are many different styles of deadlifts. Off the ground in a full squat position is going to have more leg involvement, where as stiff legged with minimal leg bend will target your lower back throughout the range of motion.

Just see what muscles give you DOMS I guess, then you'll know what your deadlifts are "primarily" working lol.

What do you think the lumbar erectors are?

Erector spinae is the blanket term for the muscles that run parrallel to the spine.

There is iliocostalis lumborum, spinalis dorsi and longissimus dorsi all in the lumbar region. Deadlifts will also hit quadratic lumborum, but it's not grouped in with the "erector spinae" term.

It's just habit for me to refer to them as lumbar erectors to be slightly specific without naming them I guess...

brids was right, depending on how you do deads will depend greatly on what muscles are used the most and at what point.

i find normal deadlifts (where you actually hit the ground and reset every rep) to do the entire body, however if i lower the bar to near the ground without actually touching, it hits my back a thousand times more, I also find that I can do more reps this way.

sumo deads will do your arse and back more, stiff I find hits my hammys etc etc

Trying to decide if I should be getting something now to bulk up a little or just stick with it and increase my eating.

I have lost a total of 8kg over the past few months now since starting.

Currently sitting at 69kg 170cm

When you make up your mind let me know, I might be keen on getting some more stuff.

News just in guys.....

The gym and supplement Discussion world came to a screaching hault today when a 69kg man questioned wether he should start bulking up a little.

One witness was quoted as saying "dafuq?"

After some investigation it was found that the 69kg man [man...lol.. yeah right - Editor] was in fact studying to become a Bosu Ball instructor and so the shocking news was not so shocking but still quite queer.

I would just increase your eating like you said. You can make a DIY weight gainer (grinded oats, PB, milk and whey) which is pretty convenient. tastes alright as well.

    • Perfect, I'll get to it this winter then at the same time as I weld on my anti squat kit.
    • Alright so my 32 only has one temperature no matter what degree you set it to. I’ve tried disconnecting the servo motor arm and moving it either direction and got no change. I’ve fixed the leak in my AC and re charged it and with it on and clutch engaged it still blows hot even though the low pressure pipe going to the firewall is ice cold. Both heater core hoses are hot while running as well. Diagnostic code showed 24 for intake air temperature sensor. Anybody got any ideas?
    • I said Garrett style. Not Garrett genuine. And something in the G30 550 range is what you want. Not those pokey little old fashioned T28 sized things. The intake ports in the head are small. There is little benefit in fattening up the runners and leaving ths actual ports small. Just run what you've got. And on the subject of Nistune vs Haltech etc..... You know you can control the transmission with decent standalone ECUs these days, right? No need to keep any of that old Nissan bullshit. Don't get me wrong - I use Nistune on my Neo. But it is a DET, so the number of bodges and workarounds I had to do to make it work in a chassis without ABS, TCS, etc, is quite small compared to the herniated arsehole you will have trying to make it work on a motor that doesn't have some of the things that the turbo ECU wants to see. Just easier to bite the bullet and go aftermarket outright.
    • Hmm. Only when the f**king thing is actually working. Still can't find the leak. And that's with dye being put in the last 3 times!
