Might look to MRI if the ultrasound doesn't tell us much. The ultrasound should be free through Medicare. Think I'll end up like you John...likely ill be able to do bench press again but no overhead movements for a long long time. Might get onto some rev shoulder care exercises when I get movement back.

Anti inflams are helping a bit with the pain. I love and hate my GP; he doesn't seem to like consultations going for longer than 30 seconds, but he always knows how to fix ailments and will prescribe anything you want him to.

Trollga if I could lift my arm I'd sock you in your twisted spine, brother.

$500 is not a shitload of money when it comes to your health.

Most people wouldn't think twice about spending $500 on their car.....your body is with you for the rest of your life

I agree with you. I guess for the same reason, people don't get regular check ups and screenings for terminal illnesses - likely they don't feel they're getting tangible return on investment like you get with a car part or the cure of existing ailments. They wanna feel a difference has been made lol

I'm all for yearly blood tests and scans.

Suppose it doesn't help that the worst medical experience of my life (and likely the worst I'll ever have short of death) involved vomiting all over myself while getting an MRI....doesn't really give them a good wrap in my book :P

Haha!

Exactly. I've spent more money on my health in the last couple years than most spend buying/modifying cars.

No exception when it comes to health. Gotta have this body for another 40-50yrs at least I hope.

On a serious note, injuries always make you feel like it's the end of the world/why do I f**king bother etc when they are new.

in a couple of days time, with NSAIDs the pain will dull and it will be some what better.

you'll start over and it'll be fine.

Cheer up lightweight

Bench was going great tonight; best weights I've pressed in weeks and all nice and low to the chest. Last set was 2 reps of 107.5kg. No shoulder pains. Then did close grip lat pulldown. Still all good. Then warm up on 60kg incline press and...f**k...my shoulder cracked the shits. Felt like I dislocated it or something. Couldn't even finish the set. Now can't move arm in certain ways (specifically above my neck and across my body) without it hurting.

The damage occured on that first bench press. It takes some time for the inflamation to build on rotator injuries.

Don't worry you will recover. Ice the rotator area regularly and anti-inflamitory pills and arnica cream.

When you are fixed up , get the shoulders tough and you won't look back. At least you can do bro-press with less risk.

For anyone using foam rollers/balls etc.

I'm specifically interested in it for my lower back discomfort/tension is a foam roller or a ball going to be a better option?

There's a bit around to say that foam rolling the lower back is a little risky if you're not supporting yourself properly etc.

Hmm, I have suitable balls at home that should do the job, just not sure if I need the roller.

Given I'm trying to target the Thoracumbular Fascia area specifically. Can't see how a roller would get in there. Pic for ref again.

Also, on my Myo's advice I'm seeing a Podiatrist (well a 3rd year friend of mine) to have a gait analysis done and have the rom of the ankle/foot, leg lengths etc examined as my ankle is definitely different to the other one now and the MYo is convinced my back is a compensatory issue.

For that area I've had good results even with a tennis ball, just moving around until I find the spot then lying there with as much pressure on it as I can bare the pain haha. Works well. Would be intense with a PROPER ball for rolling that doesn't just squish lol

    • Yeahhhh, the costs have killed me. Spent more than the cost of an engine rebuild and it most mostly servicing and a tune lol.
    • I'm not 100% how the BMW racers do it, but I know from other brands like Merc, moving, and changing the coolers is one of the things. Like getting a transcooler out from infront of the radiator to out near a wheel arch. So some of the stuff you've got crammed in the middle front, spread it out and open up where you can in the bar to get more air in to the sides.
    • Small update for the day... Turns out the intercooler and engine coolant hose kits are anything but complete....I probably should have counted better but it only really covers about half the coolant hoses in the car, it really just covers the visible stuff and pretends everything else doesn't exist (turbo water feed and returns and also heat exchanger lines through the 2 pumps and cooler) .In any case, I'm happier to have half reliable hoses than none, but a bit of a disappointment. Anyway...finger click (and 5 hours).....hoses in place, lots of spring clamps replaced with screw clamps, and engine coolant is on the pressure tester for the night.   Incidentally, upsized header tank is an Inifiniti factory option....not sure I'll ever do prod car racing in this but at least it is legal.
