Not avoiding mate, just been busy with "life". Other things have had to take priority at the moment.

To break down what I understand the issues to be;

Ankle damage resulted in poor ROM in that joint. I'm working on that, stretching walking, light weights, all as instructed by the physio. I saw the physio for a full year after the injury (it's been 13mths now), they are very happy with the progress and they were the ones who said not to expect 100% (as did the podiatrist) so that's not me jumping to conclusions.

Poor ROM has lead to other issues when trying to squat and DL with even light weight (100-110kg max on both), I'd couple that with poor core strength and flexibility - which I'm working on - and poor form (which I did go and see a guy Markos recommended to me, but probably needed to work with him foir a month or so - but he said I was fine off you go) has lead to my current back issue - there are no hammy issues.

My back is sore/tight and as a result I get a bad nerve pain in my left leg which I initially assumed was a hammy - hammy is fine - the nerve pain is referred from the back. Chiro x-rayed and said structurally things look OK, MRI needed and please see podiatrist.

Podiatrist gave me heel raises and said I appear to have already had issues with feet wanting to roll in, indicating poor something strength, can't remember. Do these stretches, try heel raises, if that help we'll go a full orthotic, they have not helped.

I'm still doing empty bar squats and DLs, normal bench, weighted chins and dips, rows with weight, lunges, calf raises (both with weight, albeit light), and planking and when I have time/remember stretching. I'm hardly giving up :)

But given my goals were a 140 or so squat for reps and say 180 or so DL for reps, my goals have changed to fix the shit that is wrong with me to allow me to consider those figures as possibilities again.

ah yep, I was ignoring the ankle fact as I thought you started squats and deadlifts after that injury and were stopping them because of current injury..

My point of giving up wasn't as a whole workout, I just meant because of the injury, don't let it hamper your goals... They should be exactly the same, maybe going to take longer, but still be there.

I'd have to check my Tom Clancy inspired build thread (that's there for Birds) but I "think" I was doing them before hand, poorly and light, but doing them and wanting to.

And the truth is, it could have just as easily been poor form that caused it, and not the ankle, but I certainly do not move like I used to in the lower half and that's certainly having an effect.

interesting reading through people's answers to my questions.

initially i started out to try and get more ascetically pleasing to the opposite sex, these days I have gone off that and aiming for a better focus on overall conditioning.

strength and cardio has influenced my training these days. But still want the decent body to some degree

of course dressing nicely and what not, but having a fit body at my current age of 24, with current situations, its expected. At 70kg, I wouldnt call my body overally good, isnt bad but isnt good.

womenz round my age generally like the bigger blokes

Troy is partially right. A truckload of confidence and a good body will net you the physical appeal of most females - certainly enough to not give a f**k about the rest of them, whom are usually lesbian or will secretly admit to / indulge in the appeal when no one else is around.

"A good looking body is not what I want", said no attractive female ever. It's not a necessity but it never hurts your chances, unless you're over the top muscular...which a lot of guys do because they start off wanting to look good and then develop their own warped version of what looks good and forgetting their original goal.

Confidence and the ability to hold good conversation on a decent range of topics, on both "novelty" (ran out of words lol) and intellectual. That's where it's at. Looking good will either help seal the deal, or get you in the door to begin with; it will not serve as a free pass or make up for shortcomings in the previous point - most of the time. In the cases where it does, rajab help you if you want anything more than a root with whatever trollop you've picked up LOL

You boys are making feel old. Even though I've only got a couple years on you =\

Talking about pulling chicks and looks and how you dress.

You want to know what's hard? Maintaining a working relationship long term lol

Picking up chicks is easy compared to what comes after.

Aggressive meathead wanker checking in ;)

Unfortunately most girls like otter-mode guys.

As long as you have some shape to your chest, some definition on your abs, and decent arms and shoulders, you can pick up any easy girl.

I can pick up, no issues there, also in a relo so I guess that focus has shifted.

but when I started, having a bod for women was the reason, guess now its more about me. With the health issues in my family and particularly myself, got to look after myself a little more.

anyone have any workout ideas that you can do in a dog park? This morning i ran laps round it with 3 areas where i did pushups, situps and squats.

I want another 3-4 that I can mix things up with, equipment is my body, there are a few things I can jump on and off i guess.

Otter mode lol

This seems to be popular on the younger guys, maybe as it's easier to achieve when younger if you were a skinny kent like me with no body fat etc,

Oh man still laughing at Otter mode.

I'm happy to swap a little definition for a bit more meat these days, it appeases the paranoid skinny kid in me.

Do agree about conversation Troy, though I think a lot of that comes with confidence, as when you are totally confident in a situation you tend to be able to say and talk about anything. Though yes, some people are totally boring and couldn't strong a sentence together no matter how much confidence they have!

You wanna know what's hard, doing both!

Improve what? Form, amount you can lift, endurance etc?

I can't help but framing your question more specifically will help you get better answers.

Enjoy yourselves gents (and lady) I'm off on holiday for a week very shortly.

<Jerry_Springer> Be good to yourselves and each other.... </Jerry_Springer>.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
