I pretended that i got really excited about the new GTR, i went on YouTube to watch it, i've got the Super GT version on my desktop, i told my GF, my work college, the guy that owns a Porka that i came across at the pub, i gave my mate with his 300zx shit because its a V6.........ect.

I don't really know about this V6 thing if not it sounds GAY to me, seriously. I've own 3 straight 6s for the last 10 years, 1 x 2.8lt 5ME Supra, 1 x RB25DET, 1 x RB26DETT BUT now the car that i like so much is equipped with a V6. Not only its a V6 but its now massive, i can put about 3 or 4 of my asian ass in and it still fit me fine :), oh and it doesn't even called a Skyline anymore :( so i'm going to buy an R34gtr and stick with it (not that i can ever afford the R35 anyway) :).

Sorry, just rant

Whats so "GAY" about an engine that is years ahead of all those you've mentioned and in stock form leaves all those you mentioned for dead? So i suppose an F1 "V"10/8 is gay, or the "V" engines in otehr supercars are gay?

I can understand people bagging the styling, interior etc, but seriously how you can bag the R35 on performance is beyond me - weight included.

Keichi Tsuchiya (the Drift King) said in a YouTube Time Attack video that he's always loved inline 6's for how they make power, and is regretful that companies in the 21st century are now reverting to V6's because they are more compact.

I prefer inline 6's but that's cause they blew me away. If i drove an R35 i'm sure i'd love V6's too.

That said i think the RB is nicer sounding and makes power more aggressively than the VQ. But stock for stock the VQ is more advanced, and the VR is well above them all re technology.

Sadly for the thread starter- you just have to accept the times, inline-6's are old tech and will be appreciated like an old burly Mustang, but they're superseded.

Research has shown that V6 platforms provide better weight distrubution and power delivery.

For example...the bugatti veyron, it uses a W16, you wouldnt use a straight 16...

harsh and maybe irevelant comparision but hey..The future is V6.

The RB26 will always be king in my book.

You meant a stock Z will leave a stock gtr for dead or a stock commo v6 will leave a supra 6 for dead?

I'm sure nissan or someone can "exhaust tune" the v6 to sound good. My problem with thr 35 is "WEIGHT!!!!!!" I run out and buy one tomorow if it weight in around 1400-1500kgs but not at the luxo sedan numbers.

Honestly i was waiting in the wing to buy one when it got released, only to find out the weight was heavier than a school bus..

I owned an Audi RS6 for 3 years and it weights in at 1800 odd kgs with 350 odd kw and I can tell you the car was fun to drive and fast from A to B but doesnt matter how much I was in denial of the weight issues until you have to make sudden direction changes. The law of physics comes in and reminds you that you have some beef under the seat...

I'm still hoping some how nissan will deliver a "stripper" version even with same power levels, I'll still be happy, but not ATM all the years waiting for nothing.

The sound issue would be overcome pretty easy in my mind, be just as sexy, just different, like a hot brunnette or blonde.

You've gotta drive it before you write it off like that. It certainly does not feel it's weight.

yeah i would have prefered an inline 6 after owning a 260c inline 6 and now my GTR 32 as well. ive always responded to commo people screaming v6 is better than inline6 with "i like to keep things straight" would the car have been that different if it was a 3.7L inline 6

but at the end of the day whatever makes the better peformance is more important than keeping with tradition. and part of the tradition is kicking more expensive cars ass's

You meant a stock Z will leave a stock gtr for dead or a stock commo v6 will leave a supra 6 for dead?

C'mon West, you mean the inline L26 carby from my old skyline C210 is better than the V6 from my V35?

You were complaining about the R35 GTR being a V6 so I was comparing the inline 6's you listed to the R35 V6.

You can't compare a stock Z with a stock GTR RB26. One has two snails and one has none.

If you look at the APS twin turbo set up for the Z it pretty much is what you would expect a stock twin turbo Z out of Nissan to look like. Now compare that with a "Stock" RB26DETT. A VQ with stock internals with this set up gives you a safe 380odd hp at the wheels on around 8psi. All this in a set up with almost zero lag.

Guess i'm a little biased driving a "V" and all.

But in all seriousness it's the way cars are going like it or not. Even the M3 is no longer an inline 6 and that motor was pure performance.

Sorry i was refering to the Z32 and the R32 but anyway.......its today's technology thing.

I didn't bag the R35 performance neither the new Z, i just personally don't like the V engine, simple. I know the in-line 6 is old but i like it :( .

I know where your coming from. Its probably because when someone says a v6/v8 u think of a crappy commodore engine.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
