Yeah, i told him i didnt believe him>?

pics posted, yours truly humbled, case closed/_/

What the hell is your major malfunction anyway, Nick?

Quit being a bitch Adam ;) I just found it a little amusing that you threw in some cheeky comments about where to post your review after you drive one to avoid being grilled. Everyone will no doubt look forward to hearing about it, me included, but as I mentioned, your comments to Sewid when he posted a similar thread weren't very cool - Some could call it a little hypocritical :)

I bet your looking forward to the prospect of getting behind the wheel of the beast ;)

Water under the bridge as they say, Nick. Yep, Sewid and I had a bit of a chat about that...in hindsight, I guess i was a little TOO jealous..

Having said that, i am looking forward to Monday. I've driven and been in some incredibly fast cars so I'm anticipating something special from Nissan's finest. :)

Yeah, had to throw in a cheeky, having been grilled on thread placement and what-not... :D

Ill post it in here when the results come in. ;)

Anyone who complains about the cost of fuel clearly can't afford one so what does it matter. This is not a dig at you Roy as i am sure you already know with your cars how much fuel they consume :(

True, if ppl are spending 150k on a sports car they probably wouldnt care too much. But the thread is directed towards the vehicles weight, sp just pointing out that thsi so called everyday sports car for everyman is going ot cost the earth to fuel.

meh its not too heavy.

32 gtr at 1500kg was about 300kg than the other quick cars of the time.

35 gtr at 1700kg is still about 300kg heavier.

yes its a shame but grip and power are doing their best to make up for the weight. There are very few modern cas under 1300kg

Its going to have the same weakness as all previous GTR's. It's going to be a one lap wonder.

Lots-o-weight and soft semi-slicks = extremely quick tyre wear.

Can't wait to see how it goes once HKS or someone build one completely out of Dry CF and get the weight down to like 1250ks or so will be a rocket then. :D

Where the do these ppls get their weight reduction estimations from???? 1250kgs??? do they leave the motor gearbox at home or do the leave the whole body shell behind?

ppls are thowing around 1500kgs for a Vspec. well I dont want to rain on everyone, but reducing weight after final production process is extremely hard and big $$$$. and the amount of weight that can be reduce is minimal. A close estimate for a Vspec weight would be about 50kgs lighter. It's the most I would expect to see.

If a car was going to be light, it has to be approach from the onset, which I would imagine nissan had in mind until costing estimation comes back..

LOL, are you talking from experience???

Or is it one of those 'assumptions' that every one who never has experienced think they should throw in....

Is the car heavy??? YES, but who cares when it performs the way it does!!!!

Don't like the weight?? Go buy a Gallardo Superleggra, that should do the trick... :D

As for taking weight out of it? It will be interesting. If the thing does come with a cage, then the fancy power seats and power options/stereo could be canned to offset the cage weight. So from there, what can they do? Thinner glass? They already use a fair whack of composites.

Hungry is on the money, they will be doing well to get much more then 50-80kgs out of it. Which is still a passenger so well worth the effort. I think the pace of this car will be all about the tyres. And im sure Nissan have worked with tyre manufactureres to ensure that base is covered sp the weight shoudl nto be an issue unless you start wanting to throw inferior tyres at the thing I mean the brakes are massive with plenty of cooling...so.

All of Nissan (& infiniti's) performance RWD cars have been getting consistantly heavier and heavier.

dulling performance, handling and increasing fuel usage.

It is frustrating becuase there is a cost effective way of solving this problem.

It is already being used by BMW, porshe and the OPEL ASTRA!!!

http://www.ulsab.org/

Ultra, light, steel, auto, body

If they can shave 10% off the cars weight (next GTR, new Z, G35/skyline) without adding cost and increasing body rigidity I think that would be OK.

So please keep talking about the car being heavy because if enough people make a fuss about it then the company might actually DO something about it.

Cheers

lol ...

its true don't get your nickers in a not :(

In a time attack sense GTR's generally record their best times on their first lap ... with every subsequent lap being slower.

Simple matter of physics ... more weight = faster tire wear = quickly slowing lap times

Would be interesting to see 10 lap times back to back :(

................................................................................

As for Bathurst ...

1. Those cars were stripped out lightened race cars and they aren't going flat out to record the fastest time possible ... racers usually drive to conserve they're tires ... they don't go flat out every lap they use a strategy.

2. They were 200kg lighter stock.

................................................................................

I'm not saying that the new GTR is a bad car. As a daily it would be perfect . Leather, GPS, Bose stereo, seat heaters, 20's, 500hp I mean what more could you want. Who cares if it 1700kgs.

But for a track warrior ... in stock trim with radials ... would be expensive changing those 20'' tires all the time

I love how defensive people get about this stuff.

Now let the flamming begin

Just a few comments re the above. The whole being quickest on their first lap? Way too general a comment to be true. Depends more on tyre compounds and how the suspension has been set up. Green tyres? A car would get into its zone with tyre temps, brake temps and engine temps all being optimum. What that is for different cars?

The Gp A GTRs were the heaviest cars in the field. In 1992 the number 1550kgs springs to mind so dont go reading too much into the fact he car didnt have an interior. The thing has enough ballast to sink the Titanic

spot on roy. the group A cars were heavier than my production race car (1530kg) so thats no excuse. And its also not true that gtrs get slower every lap, plenty of race times on natsoft.com.au including my races show otherwise.

i would be very interested to see how much weight the vspec can strip out.... I haven't seen 32-34 standard vs vspec or n1 but I bet the difference was less than 100kg, nothing like 200-300 kg different.

we have just stripped a shell really brtually for a new sports sedan, I will post up its weight once finished, but we are hoping for about 1250 - 300 kg less than stock

Start looking for gearbox conversions if your hard on the gear. Now I've been there and done that with rb powered street car (2007-2022) much prefer newer stuff. Anything 90's Japanese is not a great experience these days and highly over rated. My 2015 Brz with a heap of suspension mods is such a better car even with out the power of my old s chassis' even on track. If wanting to play light chassis and decent power for a  giggle a k swap 86/brz would be the go Check my old build for engine stuff I really need to pay attention to post 2016 BMW stuff but seem all very heavy 1600+kg
    • I mean, the 240i is not a Supra... make it drop a few hundred kg, have a sportscar chassis, clearance for wheels etc... Maybe I want a hardtop Z40i XDrive or something :p I do agree with you though and have long said the B58 Supra/240i/340i/440i is the new R Chassis/JDM90's turbo rocket for mod lovers to ... not always appreciative response lol. Doesn't make it not true though.
    • I will do the build myself but I will be paying for the tune because I don't know how much about that and would rather it be done right and by a professional
    • Will you build and tune it yourself or do you need to pay for labour?
    • Mechanically that's essentially what the M240i is, it's just not pretending it's not a BMW
