Ive been with them for 3 years now.

First year $2500

Second year $2100

Thrid year $1800

PS: i was 17 when i first got it.

Im changing off them as soon as it runs out in july as i havent had any claims so i should be able to find someone else that will insure me.

my car got broken into the other week, called them up to find out excess for a broken window and they quoted me $1950 excess. whats the point of having insureance if yoiu cant use it?

remember your insurance goes up too if you claim as you are considered a greater risk

its there if you car gets side swiped in a carpark, a tree falls on it, stolen and burnt to the ground or you run up the back of a ferrari...

not to cover broken glass or mangled door locks inless its over $1800 damege then you should claim.

if it was $900 it is best to just pay out the pocket

sux i know but you gota live with it

btw sorry to hear you got broken into - makes you feel violated and your blood boils! i know...

I just recently got paid out after writing off the car. My excess was $4800 which was deducted at payout. It hurts but this is the price we pay owning a high performance import.

Even with payout I would not be able to replace the car. Won't be the same and in such a rare condition, it was a major loss.

I got backed into by a land cruiser in my old 3-series a few years ago.

Just Car took the highest quote of the three (the one that replaced the bonnet because "it looked bad enough and it's a beautiful looking car") and i didn't hear another word about it. I took it in for the quotes, took it in again for the repair and a week later it was done...new bonnet, new BMW badge, reprayed front bar - they even replaced the indicator lenes that had hairline cracks where the bonnet squashed them.

I didn't pay a cent for the repair and kept my rating one.

I remain VERY impressed with Just Car, and now have the Stagea insured with them.

Great thread.. mine policy is expect to expire soon and looking at a lot of money coz its an import.

Anyone here can recommend somewhere to get imports insured? I bought my car off my uncle and I don't think he ever insured it coz it was only driven few times on tracks.

"any1 ever had problems with their insurance being void for having any defectable mods on their car. eg boost controllers, coilovers, ecus etc. even if u have informed the insurer about them."

This question has not been answered yet can anyone please confirm. defectable mods you tell justcars and they know about it but when you claim they bone u over with your car had unroardworthy defects which voids insurance etc

So long as you tell Just Car, Shannons, Famous or Guild Insurance about those mods + and so long as they aren't responsible for an 'at fault' crash, you are still covered.

Guild Insurance?

If you are part of a business, medical practice, dental practice, physiotherapy practice or pharmacy, they will cover Skylines.

And guess what?

Premium with Just Car used to be $2068 on maximum 'no claim bonus' for my R33 GT-R & insured for $27K with $600 excess.

Premium with Guild Insurance has dropped to $870 for 'agreed value' again, insured for $25K with $500 excess.

I just switched!!! :(

Shannons can come close, but only if you're over 30yrs old. Guild Insurance will still insure you if you're 21+

Premium with Guild Insurance is now less than half Just Car. They've only started to insure Skylines in the past couple of years.

Choice of your own repairer subject to 2X quotes - in the case of an accident.

It will only affect you if it can be proved or atleast implicated that the illegal modification was responsible or played a part in causing the accident - e.g. if you were running slicks and you lost control of your vehicle in the wet, your insurance company would have every right to tell you where to go. Really though, when I had a major side swipe accident Just Cars sent out their assessor who looked at the side of the car for 30 seconds and asked me who I wanted to get it repaired with. That was a $6000ish damage bill for the other party and about $5000 for me - scrutiny of a vehicle would only happen if it were a major, major expensive claim I think.

my completely stock r34 that i paid 17500 for and told them i paid that much is costing 1100 a year and valued at about 21k from memory. I did adjust the excess but so i have about 3/3.5k excess from memory but that doesn't bother me too much.

As i am going to mod the car checked to see what it would cost extra if i got an exhaust it's extra $47 a year which i think is fine. Best bit is i seem to be able to get as many mods as i want for that $47 bucks extra well at least the mods i want to get which are FMIC, Exhaust, CAI and ECU

From memory your allowed 5 mods each time.. so every 5 mods the price went up.. this is what they told me when i first insured so it may have changed..

Oh fair enough well that would explain why it didn't change if i went with the items i chose not much point for me to do much else the way i see it since it's a street daily car with possibly the odd track day

I have Real Insurance, check them out at http://www.realinsurance.com.au. You can get a quote pretty much instantly. I have been with them for quite some time now and I have never had a problem with them.

If they are happy to take your money I am sure you wont have a problem.

How ,many claims have you had with them in total to asses their services?

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
