im about to fit a lexan passengers window and remove the drivers (will use a net instead) You have to retain a glass windscreen for saftey in most events.

By the time you remove the glass, motor, regulator and wiring assosiated with it there can be decent savings per door.

Ive also removed all the old steel lines this week and replaced with alluminium/ speed flow fittings.

The steel ones are really not that heavy but the alloy is lighter and its fresh.

Andrew whilst you not using that headlight can I borrow it and make a mould? I want to make a carbon item but cant find a decent one to mould it from.

yeah no worries!

i wouldnt mind having a peek at that dry sump you have there.

not long now till the motor is here!

No worries, next time you have a free weekend come past home an check it out.

The whole engine is sitting out atm so its pretty easy to see how its all been set-up prior to being fitted to the car.

Im still working the small bugs out that I ran into on a spare engine before fitting into the car for the last time.

Biggest problem im having is the actualy sump pan and scavneger.

Aaron was telling me about the engine you have coming over, sounds like you found a half decent buy with it, well done.

If you want to offload the old donk let me know, may be interested as a 2nd spare.

All we did for the lexan windows was use a strap buttoned to the window from the inside and then velcro it to the roll cage to keep it tight, only downside to this is trying to put some tension(from the outside) on them when transporting the car. otherwise it works well.

Yeah i'll come over some time this week if thats good!

this is what i picked up Apparently a 34 N1 motor that was possibly rebuilt, and put into a 32 bought, then smashed after 3000km of ownership.

yer but skyline windows are hard to fit due to a frameless door and they have to be made out of 5mm material and are thermo formed to get correct curve.

easy to form them just put in boiling water for a few minutes then clamp it to the original glass to cool. would be 15 or more kgs in weight saving from all glass being replaced

from all glass?

i removed the front windscreen from the r32 shell and its 10 kgs,i'd say rear windscreen would be 10kgs or more.

so if the plastic weighs 1-2 kgs each replacement, you cud end up saving 18-16kgs from just the front+rear windscreens alone

how much do door windows weigh? (i dont have a spare one)

i have seen r32 gtr in option videos weight 1000-1100kg cool.gif i see if i can find which one it is in and upload it

if ya do www.megaupload.com

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
