Hey guys,

Yesterday, when i was on scarborough beach road.. i was rammed from behind by a lady driving a honda accord.. i was in my gf's accord thankfully.. the situation is pretty much when there was a car in front of me by a few cars had to turn right, he had to stop and everyone else behind him including me stopped and waited.. then the lady admitted she was daydreaming and rammed pretty hard onto the accord.. the damage is not severe, but the impact was hard. My car was static and when the point of impact, her car was probably doing like 30-35kph.. stuffs that were behind near the back speakers flew to the front..

I noticed a bit of a neck pain a few hours after the accident.. and decided to see if it got worse after i slept.. and it did.. now it seems to be getting worse, im getting giddy.. and theres a small lump on my neck.. Anyone working in the medical field here that may have some advice for me? My sis is a doc in melb and she recommends me to go see a doctor and probably get an xray to get it checked out..

Its just a phobia that i had after my mom told me her colleague died.. her car was parked.. and a car just nudged her slightly from behind.. she didnt feel anything.. and a few days later she passed away from internal bleeding.. :)

Please advise..

you cant be serious can you?

your sister is a doctor, and she told you to see one, and you know of someone who died from a similar scenario who didn't see a doctor...

i'd be down the emergency ward right now, they will likely put you in a neck brace and perform x-rays.

Slowpoke, go see a doctor asap!

because the accident was not your fault, you can get all the money back on what it cost you. Also you can get compensation, depending on your injuries etc...

best to contact your girlfriends insurance company and explain what happen and they will be to tell you what to do. Also if you havn't made a police report i suggest you go and do one.

Basically if your unsure about anything go see and doctor and if your unsure about what you can get from the accident in terms of payments contact the insurance company ;)

hoper everything works out :P

yeh guys im gonna go see the doctor now in joondie hosp.. hopefully nothing serious.. i didnt make a police report yet because the damage was quite little.. only 300 bucks to fix up the rear bumper.. everything else is fine.. thats why she didnt want to go thru the hassle of insurance coz it may cost more with excess and blah blah blah..

Ill see how much the medical fees are and if they are pretty high ill inform the lady that im gonna make a police report and make a claim with insurance.. Best of luck to me :)

Ill keep you all updated when i come back

Harden up. I was a passenger in a demo-derby a couple of years ago, more crashes in half an hour than a lot of you put together :) including a headon at a combined speed of ~90kmh (that one hurt!).

Not something that I'd do again.. I do feeling slightly stupider for it ;)

hey guys.. just got back from the hosp.. ended up being only a whiplash so yeah all good.. hopefully nothing turns out later on..

had to bloody wait in the emergency department for 2 1/2 hours :teehee: damn that was long..

Go make a police report!

regardless of how it seems now, just in case it turns out to be a bad case of whiplash.. If there's no report, there's no proof!

2 1/2 hrs iis nothing, try being here in Alice. I have waited 6 hrs in A&E..!

I still can't beleive you got on here before going to the doctor after you sis told you to........

Hope all is ok for you.

So you guys think i should go make a police report even though the lady wants to settle this personally? Yeah i think thats the best option isnt it? Cause just in case in the future it turns out to be worse damage i can still claim cause i made a police report right?

Cheers

Bernard

Making a polcie report doesn't mean she has to go through her insurance agency. It just means you have a record of what happened, an official police record. The longer you leave it the more suspect any claims become.

P.S. harden up :D

Edit: I got stung like this many years ago, rubbed some bitchs' bumper, a crack about 20mm long and a bit of scuffed paint the size of a 50c piece.. didn't make a report as it was fk all. About 6 months later the bitch was taking me to court (in Mandurah of all places.. we both lived NOR) for smashed lenses, new reo, new bumper. I fought it but still, was a major hassle. I put it down to the fact she likely reversed into a pole in a carpark and blamed it on me.

I got rear ended by a jerk in a BMW while i was stopped to turn.

My celica needed $4.5k repairs but I could drive it home . The beemer was almost written off, the headlight was sittin on his wheel. He jumps out and asks if I had my indicators on, "Of course, and my brakes and I was stationary". A dude from RACQ was drivin past and saw it so he helped me get all the details sorted out. Had pretty bad whiplash, but made a police report and called insurance co. Luckily I wasnt hurt seriously, if I'd had my head turned it would have been a broken neck for sure. Tell insurance company and police asap, or the woman might try and screw you over. It may cost more to fix than you think....

Spot on Bubba; while she has admitted liability there is nothing to say that her story wont change and insurers become involved. It is possible but unlikely that the neck injury you sustained may not cause you later grief, it's just not worth the risk.I'm sure that your are leaglly bound to report vehicle incidents over a something like $500. Without a report its pretty much a she said, he said deal. Although the blame for be rear ended would more often than not fall on the driver in the rear vehicle...suprise butt sex is never fun.

hmm.. im not sure if its exceeded 500 bucks.. the repair of the car is gonna cost 300 and my medical fee is about 140 i think.. joondie emergency department.. so u guys reckon i should go and make a police report? like.. should i inform the lady that im gonna make a report? or just go and make it without her knowing..

because the accident wasn't your fault, your medical fee's should be cover.

you don;t have to inform the lady but i think it would be nice too

Yay for demo derby buddies, hit my head a few times on the roll cage myself. But i was smart and booked into a chiro that monday :(

it refers to total damage to both ars so if yours is 300 and hers is 200 there goes 500 so a report has to be filled in

even so i would report it even if it was less damage

it covers your a***

    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
    • Could be correct. Meter might be that far out. Compare against a known 5 ohm 1% resistor.
    • @Murray_Calavera  If I were an expert I wouldn't be in here looking for assistance.  I am extremely computer literate, have above average understanding on how things should be working and how they should tie together.  If I need to go to a professional tuner so be it, but I'd much rather learn and do things myself even if it means looking for some guidance along the way and blowing up a few engines. @GTSBoy  I was hoping it would be as simple as a large vacuum leak somewhere but I'm unable to find anything, all lines seem to be well capped or going where they need to be, and when removed there is vacuum felt on the tube.  It would be odd for the Haltech built in MAP to be faulty, the GTT tune I imported had it enabled from the start, I incorrectly assumed it was reading a signal from the stock MAP, but that doesn't exist.  After running a vacuum hose to the ECU the signal doesn't change more than 0.2 in either direction.   I'll probably upload a video of my settings tomorrow, as it stands I'm able to daily drive, but getting stuttering when giving it gas from idle, so pulling away from lights is a slow process of revving it up and feathering the clutch until its moving, then it will accelerate fine.  It sounds like I need to get to the bottom of the manifold pressure issue, but the ignition timing section is most intimidating to me and will probably let a pro do that part.  Tomorrow I'll try a different vacuum line to T off of, with any luck I selected one that was already bypassed during the DBW swap.  (edit: I went out and did it right now, the line I had chosen did appear to have no vacuum on it, it used to go to the front of the intake, I've now completely blocked that one off at the bracket that holds several vacuum lines by the firewall.  I T'd into the vacuum line that goes from that bracket to the vacuum pump at the front of the car, but no change in the MAP readings).  Using the new vacuum line that has obvious vacuum on the hose, im still only getting readings between -6.0 and -5.2.  I'm wondering why the ECU was detecting -5.3 when nothing was connected to the MAP nipple and ECU MAP selected as the source. @feartherb26  I do have +T in the works but wanted to wait until Spring to start with that swap since this is my good winter AWD vehicle.  When removing the butterfly, did it leave a bunch of holes in the manifold that you needed to plug?  I thought about removing it but assumed it would be a mess.   I notice no difference when capping the vacuum line to it or letting it do its thing.  This whole thing has convinced me to just get a forward facing manifold when the time comes though.
    • Update: tested my spark plugs that are supposed to be 5ohms with a 10% deviation and one gave me a 0 ohms reading and the rest were 3.9ohm<, so one bad and the others on their way out.
