digsy_20
That car is a great example of useing quality Aussie bits and making it go on a well though out budget... He built most of the car himself using common tools around the workshop including his Hi-mount steam pipe manifold... he bought a To4 and a microtech... tuned it well using a truck core intercooler... really it is just some good planning and good tuning that has got it this far... It just goes to show too that sometimes the cheap way isn't always the dogey way... digsy_20
hey holdens... you emailed me about my opinion on Silvias well I think they are cool... they are a really well balanced car and have an excellent engine (SR20) that can be easily modified for alot of performance... actually I was just adding it up with a mate today about what I had spent on it... It was alot less than most people think... actually it came in under $2000 for motor mods to get me running a 13.7 @ 101mph recorded at Benaraby... In my opinion that is a quick little toy for relativly little outlay... and mine was a Non-turbo when I purchased it... so I had to upgrade injectors and buy a manifold in that price... so if you bought a turbo I think a 13 with $2000 of mods would be a walk in the park... they already have good brakes... although a nice suspension kit goes along way to their looks... really though it comes down to what you like the look of... Both Skylines and Silvias are excellent cars both to drive and as a starting ground for a project... sportif
there is only one problem with putting a turbo on a non turbo car is the compression ratio. I know that u dont need to ron as much boost but it will eventually stuff your motor. Low Vc in da house
Hey matt in your famous words get over yourself he was not talking about you. Dan and I sat down this arvo and worked our excatly how much his car owes him. From the original lay out of buying the car to the turbo, 18" wheels, clutch and all that. So as you like to say Get off your high horse and i can not believe that you think that highly of yourself that he was talking about you being a "friend" Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21099-central-queensland-motorsport/page/11/#findComment-458276 Share on other sites

It could do with a rebuild but what petrol motor 189000km old couldnt use one. What about russel masons patrol. 3yrs on 18psi and still going strong and not really showing much sign of slowing down. at the last comp he won king of the mountian, and the dyno comp, with 300 rwhp. Maybe the na turbo will work, maybe it wont but just see how it turns out. Both cars have been thrashed pretty hard and seem to be taking it well. Maybe we should give it a little more time to fully discover what putting a turbo on a na motor does to it and if it is bad for it or not. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Tell you what matt you crack me up too. Nice cheap shot at us matt about my dad. I like it, not bad at all.:uh-huh: YA CHAMP!!! Just dont do it again OK. Oh and if you dont believe DC about the prices, come to rocky on thrusday night, we will be more than happy to call everyone that he brought the parts off find out what he did pay for them, and we can even have a chat to pete to find out how much he paid for the turbo and what he sold it to dan for. Than you can leave, we will leave, all satisfied that the truth has won. And then we will never have to speak to you, and you will never have to speak to us. When we see each other at lights we can just do nothing, no wave, no tough guy finger, which i have never seen. Cause nothing would make me happier than to act like i never, ever knew you. pimpspec
What ever Josh I'll believe you about those prices, just so you give up cause its only going to start another arguement. And after reading what i wrote it does sound like I did take a cheap shot at your Dad, that was not the way it was meant to sound, I apolagise emensly, it was aimed at the discussion a few weeks ago about the whole qualified mechanic vs. Non-qualifed, as Dan said his car was supposedly built through engineering and not done by a qualified mechanic, it was not aimed at your old man. I have now changed the post so it doesn't sound like that.
