Adriano
Hi, as im running a single lowmount turbo on my R32 GTR, and large cams, i wish to keep the afm for better drivability/fuel economy. However instead of running twin Z32's or nismo's, ive opted for what i consider to be a neater and far cheaper alternative. I sold my original AFM's for $120, and picked up a pair off ebay, with one damaged for $20. Im going to have both plugs the AFM which will be bridged interenally so the loom doesnt need to be modified. Internal diameter is 110mm, which will need to reduce in the pipework to 4"external diameter to match the turbo and air filter. To prevent turbulance, ill install the alloy honeycomb before and after the sensor when i do the rest of the pipework.[attach ent=150178:IMG_1639.JPG] Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/211458-custom-afm/ Share on other sites
[WLDCRD]
interesting idea. i wonder how that would go EPA wise for melb? i'll be watching this one. just a couple questions though, are you planning on using the standard internals? wouldnt that still limit you when they max out? Adriano
Standard r32 GTR internals, should hit 5v at a touch over 450rwkw. Im hoping i can pass a drive cycle emmisions test, but the cams will be the killer there. urtwhistle
to further your point about the guy in the navy supplying the honey-comb. that stuff is made by a company in Bayswater WA on #29 Clune St next to AHD. i forgot the name of the company but i used to work next door to them. they make it for wall panaling and super lightweight high strength interiors for boats. there ya best bet. regards chris Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/211458-custom-afm/#findComment-3779915 Share on other sites
Adriano
Thanks, im not sure if it is the same stuff though. My mate tells me this stuff is used to allow a computer fan to draw through it, whilst still having the electrical enclosure shielded from electrical interference. Give it a shot though Edited April 9, 2008 by Adriano Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/211458-custom-afm/#findComment-3782534 Share on other sites
boz_soljah
i got a s2 rb25det, and i got no airflow meter, is there any way i can get the car running proply without the air flow meter just to see if the engine is still ok, not for drivin, just test, its got 3 pins, can i just use a wire and bypass it somehow? gotRICE?
The car should idle with the AFM not plugged in. So at a guess not having one at all it should still idle.
