theres 2 lanes open on the westgate (sounds like an alternate route might be a better idea still!).. but yeah no trucks or motorcycles allowed.. cars are ok atm.

3 separate incidents on the way home where people are stupid, dont look and almost ran into me..

and lights are out not far from my house and people aren't giving way and just flooring it through the lights... HELLO :\

But weirdly enough.. I left like 30mins early (just in case of congestion) and it was nice and quick to get home tonight ;)

even the garbage bin went flying today apparently.. reminds me of when there were those SE floods and a fully restored Trans Am got a modification to its roof.. a 3m skip bin lol ;)

when i was driving into work at about 12.00 in the afternoon there was one of those big green street signs near the airport. When i was about 200m away it lifted up into the air and blew about 100m into the airport, luckily the wind wasnt going the other way or it would of landed on the road. also there was dust everywhere it was like fog i couldn't see anything in the distance. then it rained, now my car is really dirty :/ .

Crazy weather, tree fell on someones car below my office window then an old bloke was out there with what looked like a pair of scissors trying to cut it free!

Someone elses garage door was flapping around while the residents were trying to hold it down!

The city vanished from view with the dust then when the rain came in at about 5pm, appeared like magic again from my office window.

Got home and a big panel had been torn off the garage. :/ Unfortunately it let in all the dust and now the GT-R is coated! Right after I polished it on Sunday too.

Ah well, could have been worse.

Yeah, the two deaths were pretty bad. An elderly lady just walking to shops or something then BAM, wall falls on her. The other being a 47 year old man working then the building he was working on just decides to fall down. :/

RIP

Was on the road all day today unfortunately and seen a whole heap of mayhem but a couple things of note was that yellow panel shop on dandenong road on the right hand side just before you go down under the bridge towards caulfield had its roller door completly gone and was lying on top of a car in there workshop.

Seen three VERY brave tradies on top of an awning on warrigal road who didnt look very happy.

And lastly McDonalds in Yarraville...the golden arches stayed put along with the "c" but there was a huge "donalds" sign on the ground...

Good point Paul about people being more awake when theres no lights. I travelled to Sunshine from Ashwood using warrigal and princes and went through at least 25 sets of dead lights and it was chaos but very organised chaos. Didnt see one intersection with Police in control either. Guess they had other issues today.

Took forever for me to get home to Box Hill. Caught a late train to Camberwell, walked down burke st, walked half way down riversdale rd, then caught a tram for the other half. Then a bus to box hill station. Took me 2.5 hours to get from the city to box hill -.-

Anyone know if Westgate is down today, or a website to find out if it is? I've got to get to Geelong today, and it looks pretty windy out (although nothing on yesterday).

VicRoads advises that all lanes are open on the Westgate Bridge, and that it is open to all vehicle types.

The traffic signals on the bridge are fully operational and drivers are asked to refer to signs for the correct speed limit.

VicRoads urges motorists across the network to take extreme care and avoid non-essential travel.

TMU tried to have anal with me at an orange light, must of thought i wasnt stopping... i just had cold pads LOL

Was going to Emerald when it hit, trees came down, wind was INSANE, volvo got blown around a bit, then on the way home it was greasy as a chapel st resident.

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
