"What are the new tyres you are putting on?"

I have gone for some more Toyo T1R's in 265/35ZR18. I run these on my GTR and they provide good grip especially in the wet with their open tread pattern. The only draw back is that they are noisy which simply means turning up the sterio.

Victory ....... how wide are your rims ? mine are 9 inch and I run 255's but I would like to run 265's. Do think the 9's would handle the 265's alright ?

Tim.

Sorry to butt in, I have 18 x 9's on my R32 with 265/35/18 & have no probs with fitment :P .

I'm sure you wouldnt either champ ;) .

I know that this has probably been asked before but why are we not showing the times from the back track in the afternoon?

I dont think that the morning times should be the bench mark because the track temp was cold and there was little grip especially for those people using semi slick tyres. There was also a lot of loose stones and dirt on the surface in the morning.

The grip level in the afternoon was substantially better because the track temp was higher and there was less crap on the road surface - therefore giving the drivers a better chance to utilise their driving skills knowing that the car was less likely to lose traction.

Perhaps an average from the morning and afternoon runs should be worked out and used as a comparison? :)

I run 265/35ZR18 on 18 x 9 rims and they fit perfectly.

The only problem is that the OD is 644 mm and is a fraction small when the correct OD is 650. This means your actual speed is about 5km less that what your speedo shows. This is what most car companies do so that you are just under the speed limit.

I was running 245/40ZR18 on 18 x8 with an OD of 651 which gave me the exact speed on the speedo in both the GTR and GTS-T. I was going to go for 275/35ZR18 to get back to an OD of 649 but Toyo only had 2 in the country and were hoping to get in another 6 in July. Even though they would have been the exact tyre for the car if they are that rare then if you stuffed one it would be a real pain to try and replace it.

Not a bad figger to go for.

What cams are in it?

Also i use 255/40zr/17

Not enough grip for my monstor on its run in tune :) Cant wait to wind up the boost. :P

evil weevil, Chris' camera is a GoPro, same as mine.

www.goprocamera.com then go to the Motorsports Hero.

I got mine from http://www.soloperformance.com/ in the USA as well as a CruiseCam headrest mount for about 310AUD all told.

User NISMO also has one which he got locally.

Here is some video I took from Wakefield. I had the sound on the wrong setting for in-car though. And the footage is much smoother when you use the included suction cup. And yes, I damn near **** myself at the end of the video hahaha

Me making an area of myself

ooh pick me pick me!! :P yeah i'm interested ;)

I'm have the costs for the actual products. I just need to find out costing of freight from them to me and then postage from me to you which will just be those post packs either exp or stnd.

Hopefully It will be cheap cheap.

As soon as I find out I will post up and see if we can get it happening.

can that camera be used as a normal video camera, like hand held? if so i might have to get one as well!

I'm not sure but I will look into it.

There is a guy doing them in TAS section but I'm getting them a lot cheaper.

lol made an "area" of myself.. damn, nice price VZSS!

They CAN be used as a hand held camera, however they are so small that you might find you aren't really pointing in the direct you think they are. I wouldn't rely on them for that kind of use. CeJay I can show you mine if you like. I'll bring it the next Friday I'm out.

One really important thing is that this camera will NOT pickup any footage whatsoever (ie nada, zip, zero) at night time. I went for a drive at night and I could only JUST make out the halo from streetlights, and nothing else. And it BARELY picks up any footage indoors during the day, or at night with the room's lights on (ie the footage is so dark you can't make anything out). Even when I faced this thing towards a desk lamp, it is VERY poor quality. It really needs UV/daylight to work properly.. go figure. I was hoping to use it for night time cruise footage, but it is useless for that. I was really disappointed about this part, but I mostly bought it for analysing laps and stuff during the day, so it's alright for me.

The other thing is, Wakefield Park (and probably many other tracks in AU) will not let you use this camera with the including suction cup mount. If you want to use it on the track, you'll need to get a proper bolt on fixture, like the "Cruise Cam" i mentioned in an earlier post.

Other than that, it's great - you can see what footage is captures in it's ideal conditions. Oh, and the other thing: it chews batteries like a mofo. Lithium or BUST!

    • Block bump. $400. As above cyl 6 needs bore or sleeve.
    • I would think making the argument that the travel is limited by a spring flexing against a spring perch as "the same method". Later on in the document they do state that the spring can't bind on full bump travel and cannot come loose in full rebound travel as well. (which is all very sensible). The laws are actually pretty sensible and reasonable. It's just that the people who enforce and check them don't actually read them or know them accurately. "Oh, coilovers? Instant fail mate. Don't even need to look at it." - Guy who will be instantly reported by me. There is probably merit to people who do get defected for height also get defected for the suspension in that state that allows it. I did never consider the people who are complaining about coilovers being picked on are also running around at 50mm off the floor.
    • I think given SAU's knowledge of E85 we can strongly conclude that 10% ethanol in almost any situation is entirely fine. Almost all of the myths against E85 were overblown, let alone E10.
    • From your link See bold text, is this referring to damper settings, if so that may a issue for "some" inspectors, I cannot see aftermarket coilovers having the evidence that "must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original" Maybe just remove the adjustment knows and hope for the best???? Meh 5.2 Suspension travel In all instances, modifications to a vehicle’s suspension must ensure the integrity of the system and not compromise the ride quality. At least two thirds of the original suspension travel should be maintained in both directions (rebound (i.e. extension) and bump (i.e. compression)), and rebound must be limited by the same method used by the vehicle manufacturer or if this is not practicable due to the nature of the modification, an equivalent method. If an alternative method is used, evidence must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original.
    • They actually don't - They adhere to VSB14 rules just like Victoria. The rules are against CABIN adjustable height, and it quite clearly states that the height has to be within parameters. I asked the VASS engineer to confirm this when I got my car engineered and they refused to engineer the coilovers because they didn't meet the requirements for requiring engineering. (mine are height adjustable.) People "Not wanting to bother" with "Actually reading/knowing/adhering to the rules" should result in fines and immediately losing the ability to issue blue slips and/or RWC's in Vic.
