totally agree with your view about thugs and crimes in melbourne matt....hrrmm, all we need is a better idea when approaching meetups like this to prevent what happend. the boys at ns.com have weekly meetups at monash too, it gets organised by one person with pm's sent to members, i dont think they have had police show up in the past 2 years, just campus security

Sorry to hear man - that was my r33 that parked next to the evo and then left. its just utter bs - like i said, while they were defecting you, there was other idiots on wellington/princess hwy booting the shit out of their car.... :)

Yep - we will come up with something inorder to organise the next meet.......def gonna happen, but it will be at a different venue.

Its not like a whole bunch of us are gonna go and do tokyo drift around monash or anything.....but im bloody sick of the fact that car enthusiasts cannot catch up and chill out with some car chat.

im working on that car enthusiast stuff. got a thread going. and heaps of support to set up a representative face for us. pubicists donations and even hosting and our own .org.au. setting up car enthusiast commitiee of australia. and reconised clubs promoted and listed as enthusiasts not hoons. trying to chuck in a bit of media support aswell.... fingers crossed it works... this crap like tonight was bullshit.

mega bullshit - it shitted over my gastro that i had last week.......

edit - i mean that tonight was mega bullshit :)

maybe u should do as the NS boys do... f*k these tards in the egg and bacon rolls.

its because of idiots like the driver that crashed and killed himself and hte passenger today at lygon street.....suddenly there is more emphasis on all enthusiasts as being hoons......

anyone who got there early, how did the police show up?? i go to monash clayton and campus security are fags! i bet they rang the popo

Yeah, I was there from the start. At about 8:30 a cop car drove past. About 8:45 there were significantly more cars and a cop cars turns up, drives down and asks us what we're doing. We tell him we're having a meet then getting dinner, he seems fine with that and then goes and sits down the end of the carpark. Cop number two rocks up and joins him down the end of the carpark. Cop number 3 comes in then leaves. Everything seems fine, people keep rocking up but don't venture down the end where the cops are. As soon as a P Plater in an R32 rocks up and goes down the end and past them they both follow and when he parks they block him in. Pretty much they were just waiting for someone to drive past them that looked detectable, hence why it was just a stand-off between them and us, no way were we starting cars while they were waiting for us.

It was nice to meet some new people and see some new cars, however I have to say it turned into a shit night. I normally have no problems with police and authority but what the police did was a massive waste of time and tax payer dollars. I hate being intimidated when I'm not doing anything wrong.

i enjoyed the meet and the chat until that happend.. What did everyone do? go home or something? i drove around for a bit and around 10:30 down princess there 3-4 cops cars 3 of them were booking ford drivers

I was angry, I just went home.

wasnt a bad night. sorry to the guy in the GTR, the cops were obviously bored from sitting there and thought that u were an easy target, what did they get ya for ne way? i left wen every one else did just cruised down wellington rd with sky..cab and a white 22 and i think the white 34 as well then went on to the free way to a pool place in narre for a bourbon. hehehe

fark jsut woke up - had a dream that my car got defected, and that i walked to subway to eat dinner.....no idea wtf that was all about

but yeah - thats what we gonna do next time calvin. We just gonna pm each other.

But dont lie - you enjoyed other things too didnt u

As Emsta said the best way to go is that if you are a SAU-VIC official club member there will be no problems in you participating. Also people that have been coming for the past couple of months to our meets which we know well. Only problem is new people as we dont know who they are. Might sound a bit drastic but we must KNOW they aren't cops otherwise there will be a repeat of last tonight.

We have to work out a good system because every other meet we have had has been very enjoyable and a great getting to know other members type event.

i agree with you matthew, i was prob one of the random non sau members last night and only decided to come because somewhere on this thread it mentioned anyone is allowed as long as they behave. im just as a car enthusiest like you boys and just wanted to drop by and meet/talk to some people, thats what meetups between enthusiests is all about. imo the bigger the turnout the better it is, yeah keeping it safe and knowing whose attending is a hard thing to controll. with us at melbs15, they sell melbs15.com stickers for $20 for members, so anytime we gather for a meet whether newb or not, as long as they have that sticker every1 knows their there for the meetup and nothing stupid

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
