This is where that rumour of mine came from Bubba :P

hehe, grab the engine mounts from a LD28 powered laurelor R31 skyline station wagon, because of the deck hieght on the block the engine mounts are shorter

..........

it was an old retired mechanic who told me what engine mounts to try. i would have never have known other wise and probably would have had to get a custom bonnet made.

Found said rumour/post again...

Try those ones?

this info is probably useless to 99.99% of people but rb26/30 in a stagea and the bonnet closes with ease, without any mods at all, motor on the standard mounts and not lowered at all. Going by my measurements with some bluetack (lol) i got atleast 10mm clearance at the closest points (timing cover area).

just thought i would add this in the topic incase someone asked in future

Well then you suck!

I soo shouldn't have sold my 240z, there worth heaps now.

But I'm fair sure you would have even more trouble getting the bonnet to close in a zed. Also the torque might fk the 2/3rd's chassie so you'd want a killa cage or a 260z two seater.

You really don't want to put spacers under the subframe - that will raise the roll centre which won't help handling.

BTW rb25/30 in a 240z is a real bad idea. I've seen one in a 200zr and it is a terrible fit - heaps of mods required

Motor is out, again, so this is a problem i have to look forward to again pretty soon.

Short of new engine mounts, im going back to twin turbo, so the rear clearance wont be a drama. At the front the last resort is cutting the frame

hey me 2 !!

i blew the oil pump and bend the rods

You know how to shatter a man's dream :O

If an rb26 can be fitted into a 240, what makes the rb30det so difficult?

I had already factored in a very decent roll cage, brakes and suspension set-up.

WHAT NOW!?

Have you picked up that car from Bendigo? How did the other one go, the one you wanted to look at on the way back home?

Dude thats why it wasnt at DECA, it let go at Wakefield a short time ago

All good on the way back, problem i face now; where to keep two more cars

What was the aftermath from DECA for your r33?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
