Hi Guys, thought you might be able to help. Does anyone know what this button does? Its on a 98 S2 (2.5t X FOUR). I was thinking it had something do do with the transmission. Its an Auto but not a tiptronic. I have done numerous searches (here and google) and can't seem to find any info.

Im considering purchasing the car so any info would be appreciated.

cheers

g

looks more like after market cruise control to me. do you have 2 throttle cables under the bonnet?

Thanks Duncan,

Yeah, I did consider cruise control, but it doesn't seem to have the standard acc resume.

also it appears on another similar car at auction in japan ( http://www.tradecarview.com/stock/detail.aspx?sid=1037404 ) so I don't tink its after market?

Its called "switch assy-radio" in FAST, so im guessing it will adjust your radio.

Once again I'm happy to say Chook is 100% correct!

It is the "steering audio switch" and it came as standard on the X series.

Why the X series? I thought V's were the optioned-up ones! :)

Here it is anyway from the manual:

Only question is, of course, where to get one???

I'd say it won't as I believe it is hard wired to the oem unit.

If the truth be known, the X series were the most optioned & Expensive of the Stageas. In fact the 25t X FOUR was the only one to come with the Navi/TV as standard.

Interesting. So what is the difference between V, X and Prime? I take it Prime was an option in either V or X series? If so is it possible to get a 25t X FOUR Prime ?

no thats only one question - the other is, does it work with aftermarket head units?

I'm guessing that this would be possible, as these things usually come through the clock spring as direct wire connections. You'd have to be really unlucky and find that it has been serially encoded or something... and then, I saw a kit somewhere the other day, which was made specifically for such a purpose, and had settings for adapting Holden/Toyota and some other factory-fitted steering-wheel controls... can't remember where it was but I think it was Jaycar. Failing that, it was DSE's or Altronics.

When you say V I assume you mean RS?

There was no X prime edition. this was only for the RS series. You could get the X in leather but it was Olive grey.

some if the diffs would be no tiptronic option in X, and the interior was velour (which i prefer) not jacquard, among many others.

The real povvo models were the G series. which look similar to the X's.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
