$4k thats lucky, I would imagine losing a car you love because it is deemed a "write off" would be a heart break.

And kudos to you for having comprehensive insurance :P

Whats is your excess? that can be a killer!

Thanks everyone! Excess is $400. Thank God i opted for the "pay extra $35 to get rating one protection". 12 days to go and counting, gonna be a long 12 days.

Depends who you are with, 50% for JustCars

justcars are 50%!? then how did my friend get it repaired (at their cost of $13000) and didn't get it written off. BTW his car is a 98 gtt r34, shoulda been insured for 20-21k as it was bought at that price range. Also, i been told it was 75%

  • 2 weeks later...

JustCars Just told me my car will take another week to repair. I am both angry and depressed. It's been the longest two weeks so far, now they move the goal posts again. I see Skylines everyday and i get more upset because i don't have mine. Is there a Skylines anonymous or some sort of group therapy, i need help.

thanks not too bad tho, a mate of mine had a lady run up his arse about 10 weeks ago and it still has not gone in for repair yet...

NRMA is the insurance company, slowest service ive ever seen... Its an modern aussie car too, so not like the parts are hard to get...

I keep telling him to take his business to suncorp cause like the tv ad says if its drivable 90% are fixed within a week...

drove my skyline for the first time in two weeks yesterday. haven't had time up until then

and holding with my current luck, the one time it has been out in two weeks, a woman in a pulsar merged lanes straight into me....

but, surprisingly (with the kind of luck i have been having), the only visible damage to my car was some slight rubber loss on the front tyre. because my front wheels are too fat for my front guards, they stick out a bit, so they managed to keep her car away from my pannels. she on the other hand, has massive scratches from my tyre/rim all down her passenger side door. looks like somebody tried to wax her car door with steel wool.

was quite happy with the outcome.

i lost a car like that once...my first R33, it had a buggered door and bonnet i got my 23k some one else boght the 'wreck' and fixed it i bought it back for 18.5k woot same car plus a couple k in my pocket.

suncorp had my skyline repaired and back on the road after we got rear ended in 4 days (4 days after we took it to the inspection centre)

we were pretty happy with that

admittedly the damage wasnt too bad, but it was still painted and had a rear bumper and supports underneath that replaced

I got my car back today! Woohooo! Except they didn't paint the front bar, coz it was not on the list for repair! Fu@# me, i said, surely you'd notice a big grey scrape 30cm wide and 50cm long where white paint used to be? Nevermind, she drives like a dream and i am happy again. Will get bar painted in the future, don't wanna give them my car for a while again.

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
