Well he most likely will get charged at that speed, and "charge" means you will have a record on your profile. In my experience of applying for jobs and also from my friends experience in applying for uni graduate jobs, the application form asks whether you have been charged for anything or have been taken to court. Now the paper ive read didn't have any space for explanation besides the Yes/No question. Probably is different for every job.

*sigh. yes mate forms will just ask you yes or no. if you write yes, but your application was otherwise suitable they will ask you about the incident and ask you to provide character references. and they will always do recrods check so they will know the nature of the offence anyway.

Why does everyone act so innocent on the internet? I mean I'm sure most of you (as in car enthusiasts) at some stage in your life have put the foot down on a long stretch of straight road just to see what she will do? Only difference is you didnt get caught.

I own bikes and I dont know a single rider that hasnt hit some insane speed at least once just for the fun of it - higher than that speed mentioned too.

I dont agree with what this guy did and I hardly want to encourage such behaviour as I can only imagine what would happen if something went wrong, but you know the saying - people who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

The vast majority have done a silly speed at some point. Im sure that nearly everyone who is calling this guy an idiot wouldnt do something so stupid now - thats not saying that they havent ever done something so stupid before. People grow up!

Hmmm, Well mate maybe because this forum is not a confesion box and also to your suprise most of us here on this forum does not "put the foot down" to see what she does we leave that for the track. I get young blokes pull next to all the time or chase me down to jump on front of me but I just politely ignore that or if they say something I reply "Your to fast for me".

It isn't a question of acting innocent, nor a question of getting caught.

It is simply an attempt to convince people that doing things like this bloke did can have really bad long term consequences. Putting aside the obvious like killing and or injuring people, the low end of the scale includes bad shit like:

1. Bringing more negative publicity to the car enthusiast community

2. Damaging and/or destroying your car.

3. Getting yourself a criminal record.

4. Losing your licence.

5. Getting yourself an awful driving record that makes insurance near on impossible to get.

And it goes on and on.

If anyone wants to listen to those members of SAU who have done track days & the like they will get a consistant message about entering properly organised, sanctioned events of any kind:

1. It's safe.

2: It's responsible

3: It's legal.

4: It is by far and away far more challenging and enjoyable than arsing about on any public road will ever be.

Which is all there is to say, really.

Just for discussion...what about that Rich bloke(think it was singleton or something)

he got caught speeding well over the limit but obviously his rich lawyers produced

facts that indicate the car he was speeding in was well equipped and safe enough to do those speeds.

Yeah it was Singo. Bentley Turbo IIRC. If you had the cash you could do the same thing (if you car was up to standard). Lawyer might have been Chris Murphy.

LOL!!! My dads mate haha, yea he's pretty good at what he does.. I think he represented me on a neg driving charge, that or one of my other dad's mates..

Yea I'm pretty lucky to know people like that.. It's sad though that is how the system can work.. Like one bloke who represented me knew the magistrate cause she was his best mates g/f for a while.. That case went my way..

Although tbh, most of the cases where my dad's mates represented me, he was the one feeding them the info and what to say..

You couldn't do 263 at a track, you'd have to brake to make it round the next turn.....

At least he did it on a highway and not in a 50 zone like a late friend of mine did, flipped his car into a tree and put his mate in a wheelchair, could have been much worse, probably wouldn't have happened on a highway.

If no amount of training make you able to 'safely' speed why are the police allowed to.....?

People will always speed regardless of the vehicle whether it be a barina magna or ferrari, its human nature, its just that your average joe that doesn't have a million bucks to pay his Solicitor to say...

" It's a Ferrari, your honour, a supercar that is capable of reaching insane speeds on public roads safely, it's built to do it therefore its ok".

... and get away with it.

And If this bloke did kill your family or someone you knew, he'd have to live with it, every minute of everyday of the rest of his life, that in itself is quite a load to bare, regardless of the puisnment you or the courts could dish out.

I'd rather have this guy, who appears to have an above average skill level of driving, heading towards me on the other side of the road at 200+ then some young 17 yo old p plater with 4 mates in his dads

Everybody has done something wrong at one stage in their life, those of you who sit there and talk of the terrible thing this kid has done are hypocrites.

Experience is just another name for a whole lot of mistakes, I dare say that this incident will make this guy grow up very quickly.

This guy doesn't give us a bad name the media does, guns don't kill people, people kill people and speeding doesn't kill it is the sudden stop at the end that does.

One could argue that someone who pulls out at the wrong time isn't attentive...

I have read elsewhere in this forum of people losing control of their vehicles at low speeds around 'slippery' corners, its situations like this where I'd rather have an experienced 'HOON' sliding/drifting beside me rather than a careful driver sliding out of control without a clue about where the vehicle will end up or what they should do.

Some people are born to go fast... race car drivers, pilots etc etc, some people are born to play chess.

He did not make a sensible choice. He simply decided not to compound his stupidity with even more of the same.

The reason this sort of stuff is treated so seriously is because it can and does kill people. Something that picking up small change from the pavement is unlikely to do.

There are no conditions on a freeway or any other public road where it is safe to do 263km/h when other road users are doing 100 or less. The closing speeds are frightening. You only need someone to change lanes infront of you (What you don't check your mirrors for people 100 metres away?) for things to end up in the mother of all accidents. Now I say accident, but it isn't really, is it? More of an inevitable consequence of recklessnes & stupidity.

I cannot believe anyone is defending this idiot.

This guy is obviously an absolute tosser! How can anyone possibly defend him? There is nothing sensible about going that speed limit. Nothing can justify this type of action! He more than likely shat his pants when he saw the sirens, rather than having a lesser fine in mind or being sensible. It's people like this who give us all a bad name.
