Hey guys, was just reading this thread

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gr...l=throttle+body

And after ringing about a million wreckers in brissy for a Q45 throttle body and having no luck i thought i would see what other people have bolted on their greddy style plenums, was thinking of getting the adaptor kit but would pref to put a larger T/B on

I think the old XF throttle bodies were also being readily used not so long ago.

Hey thanks for the help guys,

dunno if i wanna spend that much on a T/B, but if i got no choice then oh well

i sent a pm to Kudos just waiting to hear back

and need to find a wrecker in Brissy that actualy has an XF T/B b4 i can try this option, just one question with that, it says to use an RB30 TPS, i saw one yesterday at a wreckers and it had what looked like the grey plug which is on mine, but there was a black plug on there also, does anyone know what thats for? Does it have to be hooked up??

The second plug is usually for the auto.

How much power are you targetting? I haven't found the standard throttle body to be a restriction at 320 rwkw.

Cheers

My engine in it's previous car was making ~365rwkw through the standard throttle body.

Benefits of a bigger throttle body?

Would it be less restriction? thus allowing you to make the same power with less boost?

I'm finding it really hard to justify a new throttle body...

Cheers Sydneykid, i'm looking at high 200's but if it gets 300rwkw then even better

At 315 rwkw I measured the boost before and after the standard throttle body and there was zero difference. So the standard throttle body wasn't a restriction at that power level. There are better, more effective, ways to spend your money for that power target.

at what point would you think of changing the throttle body Gary?

im going for around 360rwkws on a 30/25 with 3540r

Cheers

I don't know what the limit is, all I know is it's OK at 320 rwkw. The best way to find out is to measure it, that's what I did after a lot of people said 265 rwkw was the limit of the standard throttle body. My best suggestion is to get your 360 rwkw and then measure the boost before and after the throttle body, it's pretty simple. Only takes a couple of minutes to check, then you will know for sure.

Cheers

Gary

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
